Rumor: Ezra Miller's The Flash will have a tech-based costume

10.09.2015

The Flash Seth Grahame-Smith Ezra Miller Banner

Last month Ezra Miller allegedly described his THE FLASH costume to a fan as "post apocalyptic," and Den of Geek is claiming they have some additional details about the design of the costume.

An insider tells the site that the character's movie suit will be "tech-based" and will look more like armor to avoid "any comparison to the well designed and received TV version," similar to The Flash costume from the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us. Their source also says Miller's Barry Allen is "now something of a tech geek."

While I'm a little concerned that Miller's Flash costume might end up looking a bit too busy compared to the one Grant Gustin wears on the CW series, this is only a rumor, and things could change, especially with Seth Grahame-Smith recently coming on board to direct. How do you think the character's costume should look for his movie outing?

THE FLASH is scheduled to open on March 23, 2018.

Sounds "snyderesque" and stupid. Maybe they'll make Flash a cyborg as well? We can only hope. I don't seem to remember The Flash utilizing heavily teched-up uniforms (much). It's kind of like putting Chris Evans in full metal, battle armor for the first Captain America movie. I think WB has kind of lost control of their projects or they have no clue what made the characters great...or they are only looking at revenue from merchandise.

why do people feel the need to be "creative", just stick to the source material and that's it.

Might as well solidify the suck and go full ludicrous speed. Ezra Miller is god awful, so might as well take the iconic greatness of his suit and throw it out the window in favor of gaudy and clunky to match his suck. Yeah lets take a guy who is speed based, with a simplistic sleek suit to match the theme of ease of movement and speed, and throw it out the window for some iron man exo tech suit. Yeah that screams Flash alright. Sigh. Very little about the DCCU inspires Confidence. Affleck I

None more so than this twat Miller cast as the Flash and every decision they seem to make regarding this character for the movie version.

You need to calm down. First off, Marvel has had great success with their property since Ironman where DC has not since pretty much The Dark Knight (not incl. Begins nor Rises) So, fans, Marvel or DC, can still feel skeptical. I'm not a fan of the armour idea either, not the possibility of Spider-man in Civil War possibly having armour.

Every costume in the Injustice game was a terribly designed tragedy. But hey, at least it won't be leather.

I don't want to write this off yet, but this movie seems like WB/DC is really over thinking the properties they want to adapt for their cinematic universe. As far as the suit goes, sometimes less is more. Keep the design similar to what's going on with Batman or Superman's. The suit is relatively similar to what is seen in the comics, but still looks practical and cool. Going with this tech-based design seems like they're taking the character pretty far from his comic roots and giving him

MickLoud I think the key thing you mentioned (for me) is "unnecessary re-design". That was the whole thing with FF, making it edgy, darker, more serious, sweeping changes via casting and story, none of that was necessary for Fantastic Four. If a product needs a redesign than I am for it. Like say Howard The Duck. To do that, you have to redesign and give it something much different than was done.

Right now the Flash is working way better than anyone could dream. Anyone who has watched

I am getting a bad feeling about this. WB has a successful and compelling take on DC's The Flash property. All is well here. And now there a Flash film in the works and it smells like they want to do a Fant4stic Four Tranking of the property. A tech based suit, post apocalyptic re-imagining of the Flash? I mean I am all for creativity and I don't mind being daring with a property, but why exactly would they do that now? I could see something like this several years down the line, when

I could see something like this several years down the line, when the current take has grown stale, or if it is a continuation of a series of films that establishes the cinematic version of the flash, for say the Justice League. But one of the problems with the FF is that it was so far set away from the Marvel World that the property becomes useless overall. With Man of Steel and batman Vs Superman dawn Of Justice and the upcoming Wonder Woman and Justice League development, a post apocalyptic Flash with a technology suit makes the property somewhat useless. I'd hate to see the property Tranked when right now it is doing some REALLY good stuff on TV. I am skeptical.

@Iron_Chinchilla

"Tranking"-to make a film at the insistence of corporate powers that be, unsupported by fans, very loosely based on the source material; possibly made to maintain copyright on source material, i.e.. "Tanking in advance."

I would rather the film just keep the iconic red suit the same (despite comparisons wth the show). It's just that I can't imagine it'll be comfortable for Barry to run ar a high velocity while in a suit made of somewhat armor.

The standard answer to that issue would be Speed Force. Explains all illogical concepts.
