Rumor: Mark Wahlberg is Universal's Six Million Dollar Man

Jul. 7, 2014by:

Does Universal Pictures have the technology to make Mark Wahlberg better, faster and stronger? Sources have told The Tracking Board Wahlberg will star in the studios' big screen version of the 1970s television series The Six Million Dollar Man. The site is also reporting Mark Wahlberg's LONE SURVIVOR director Peter Berg and Harvey Weinstein are attached to produce the project, and Berg might direct the film as well.

The original TV series ran for five series on ABC and turned star Lee Majors into a pop culture icon. The series followed Steve Austin, an astronaut whose body is rebuilt with bionic implants after being severely injured from an aircraft crash. On the show Austin used his different enhanced abilities from the implants to work as a secret agent for the Office of Scientific Intelligence.

Universal has tried to bring The Six Million Dollar Man to the big screen a few times, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are interested in Mark Wahlberg for the project. We'll have to wait and see if there's any truth to this rumor, but how would do you feel about Mark Wahlberg starring in a movie version of The Six Million Dollar Man?

So Mark, your arms and legs are bionic, what's up with that? With Mark Wahlberg as the lead, this might work.

Will he have a bionic frown? Fuck him and that one facial expression he's got.

I'm more comfortable with Mark Wahlberg than I was with the last rumored star Jim Carrey.

Wouldn't it be like the $60 million dollar man, based on today's currency standards?

solid choice

Gonna have to up that budget, however. For six million in today's world, his ass would be cobbled back together with old Vespa parts and a George Foreman grill

I think you might have nailed the plot of the inevitable Asylum mockbuster version.

Yup, had that and Masketron, which was like getting a Steve Austin figure, an Oscar Goldman figure and a John Saxon figure all in one!

I had that same Action Figure. The one with the skin that pulled back to reveal the bionic sticker, and the bionic eye that magnified when you looked through his head. Good times.

I'm okay with that. And I grew up watching it.

Especially if this keeps him from playing Mitch Rapp.

Please stop...

putting Mark Wahlberg in movies. He is the blandest non-acting "A-list" actor working today. His amateurish performance worked in Boogie Nights because that's what the character called for but he should have taken some acting lessons since. Seriously, who is a fan of his? Viewers with no discernible taste in performance or charisma, I guess.

Have Adam McKay direct

He got Marky-Mark's funnybone to work in "The Other Guys", so maybe they could do this tongue-in-cheek like Jump Street
