Rumor: Want to know what happens in the opening sequence of Avengers 2

Jun. 10, 2014by:

It is a safe bet to assume that we will be seeing a teaser for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON attached to GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY this August. It is probably also safe to assume that whatever footage we will see is going to be repeated ad nauseum in every media outlet until the release of Joss Whedon's film. Until then, like STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, every little tidbit will make an impact, especially when they proclaim to be plot details.

While the scoops from Latino Review can be hit or miss, they have been consistently solid as of late. Still, these are still rumors and could turn out to be entire bullshit. But, they could be entertaining bullshit in the interim. At the very least, these rumors seem to compliment our own sources regarding AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

Citing confirmation from sources, the follow claims to be from the opening twenty minutes of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

  • The movie opens immediately following the stinger sequence featuring Baron Von Strucker, Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)
  • Von Strucker, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver have a massive battle versus The Avengers
  • Von Strucker has a Chitauri ship and weapons
  • The Avengers win and have a party at Avengers Tower where everyone tries to pick up Mjolnir, including Rhodey
  • Captain America is able to move the hammer just a little bit
  • Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and Thor are no longer together and she is dating Chris O'Dowd's character from THE DARK WORLD.

Now, if all of that isn't enough, check out who the new power couple will be in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

[In] the party scene at Avengers Tower, we discover that Banner and Black Widow kinda have a thing for each other. Banner is afraid to consummate anything with her for fear of hulking out and hurting her. He doesn't trust himself. OUCH! Talk about blue balls, in this case hulk green, hence leading to his "It's complicated" facebook status update this morning.

All of this sounds pretty much spot on with what I was expecting from the opening of the film. What it does not shed any light on is how significant Baron Von Strucker is to the other plot elements. It also gives no indication as to how Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver join the team. It also seems odd after the very happy ending of THOR: THE DARK WORLD where Thor has finally sacrificed everything to be with Jane that they are suddenly apart.

If anything, I just hope the party scene stays in the film as well as the romantic subplot between Banner and Black Widow. That could make for a very interesting spin-off film, wouldn't you say? Don't forget to check out our spoilery tidbits regarding the film.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits theaters on May 1, 2015.

This is ridiculous, everything I read above sounds like it was written by a child. Latino Review loves to make up shit. First Off, Rhodey isn't even in the movie, and second, I'm pretty sure Natalie Portman isn't in it either. This isn't real news, so lets move along.

Yeah, I trust Latino Review's movie rumors only slightly more than I trusted Supershadow's star wars "news" about the prequels back in the day.

Chris O'Dowd!!! YEs, bring him back. Have him become an Avenger mainstay.

I just hope Chris O'Dowd has like 2 hours of screen time. That guy is awesome. He stole the show in Thor 2.

I remember when Wonder Woman just handed Thor back his hammer during a battle (DC vs Marvel), he was like, "Huh? Hey, wait a minute..."
Never saw what came of that after.

Am I the only one....

who isn't freaking out over the Thor & Jane info? Calm down everyone. Think about the many other superhero movies that toyed with the idea of the hero not getting the girl right away.... Spiderman, MJ almost gets married to another guy. X-Men, Jean is technically with Scott. In The Dark Knight, Rachel is with Harvey Dent. This stuff happens all the time and I highly doubt this is the end of Thor & Jane's love story. It's most likely just a way to develop their relationship.

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet...

Pretty obvious that the reason Thor and Jane wouldn't be together is the fact that Natalie Portman really doesn't care to be in these movies any longer. She had help get Patty Jenkins hired for Thor 2, only for Patty to walk Edgar Wright style. Portman publicly complained and basically threatened that she wouldn't return either. The only reason she did Thor 2 was because she was contractually obligated too.

Someone saw the leaked set photos and decided to use their imagination.

There's so much wrong this I don't know where to start... Portman signed on for more than 2 Thor movies? The Avengers now throw a party every time they win!? This where Black Widdow and Banner just make out? But no one notices because they are all to busy trying to move Thor's hammer? This sounds like it was written by a 12 year old.

So...

Hulk couldn't budge the hammer in the first avengers, and somehow cap can move it slightly in avengers 2. So Cap is stronger than the Hulk? False.

Sometimes in the comics cap could wield thors hammer. Thor is only allowed to wield the hammer because he is heroic and honorable enough, I guess cap being so selfless has something to do with it. I'm sure there will be one line of dialogue explaining it, but it's definitely an homage to the comics.

The hammer is not heavy, it can only be carried by someone worthy. Which is why it didnt rip the rack off the wall in Thor 2

Captain America should be able to pick the hammer up or not at all. There's no wiggle room.

They're suggesting what - that he's 17% worthy?
Yeah, seems odd.

Everything sounds good besides Thor and Jane

If they seriously aren't together then I call bullshit as a way for Thor to protect Jane from the public eye.

This all sounds awesome and I like the fact that Captain is able to pick and/or move Thor's hammer a little bit then everyone else.

I don't like the idea of Thor and Jane being apart considering the events of the Dark World and I would have hoped Captain America and Black Widow would build upon their relationship from Winter Soldier. I think they make a better couple then Black Widow and Banner.

And speaking of Banner's love life, how about re-introducing Betty Ross into the picture and

Even if it's BS...it'd be fun way to do it....especially that picking up the Mjolnir party act - a very Whedon-esque thing to do. That said...Thor/Jane Foster split doesn't ring true with what we know up until now. She's been moping around after him since the end of the first film...gets him back...then mopes some more at the end when he goes back home and sparks right back up for the end credits. Then they break up? As for Widow...who wouldn't want her and Cap to build on what we saw in

Agree with your last point on Cap & Widow 100%. I liked the flirtation going on in Winter Soldier.

Aside from the Thor/ Jane thing, this sounds awesome, if true. That Thor/ Jane not together shit is a totally crock and ruins the whole point of "Thor: The Dark World".

Sounds like a cool opening, but I don't like the whole Thor and Jane thing. Why put them together to have them apart now, just seems silly after two movies revolving around their romance. So, I hope that part is not true.

I'm guessing Black Widow keeps making the rounds. First Hawkeye, then Captain America, now Hulk?

Guess she wants the big green dick. Dayum.

No I don't want to know, that's why I skipped the article and came directly here. Just like I'm not going to read ANYTHING Star Wars related so that when I get to the theater, everything will be fresh and new to me.

This is exactly why Marvel is succeeding.

I know it has a lot to do with the tone of the MCU movies, but can you picture any of the other characters in the Sony/Spidey Universe, the Fox/X-Men Universe, or the DC/Justice League Universe just kicking back after saving the world, hanging out, and just enjoying each other's company? Again, partly it's because of the light-hearted, fun-loving tone, but it has more to do with the characters. They're so fleshed-out, 3-dimensional, and real that no one should have any trouble imagining what

Marvel proves that if you put characters first, everything else will follow. If only so many other studios and blockbusters could follow suit. A party scene with a feats of strength involving Thor's hammer? All the other stuff sounds good and compelling enough, but this right here...sign me up!

That made me laugh out loud. Sounds like a bunch of drunk frat boys or something, but it's our favorite super hero's. Awesome.
