Rumor: Will Smith's Deadshot may appear in Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie

12.10.2015

Untitled Solo Batman Movie Will Smith Ben Affleck Banner

A couple of months ago we revealed a few of the key players for the next solo Batman film (which currently doesn't have a set release date), and now Latino-Review has heard DC and Warner Bros. are considering adding another character to the mix.

Sources tell the site that Will Smith may reprise his SUICIDE SQUAD role as Deadshot in the planned movie. Smith, who apparently want to be an "ongoing part" of Warner Bros.' plans for the DC Extended Universe films, has signed on for multiple appearances as the antihero/supervillain, and if he does join the solo flick, "it will be for a 'major role' for a 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' scenario," with him possibly teaming up with Batman.

While this is obviously just a rumor, would it really surprise any of you if it was announced that Smith's Deadshot will be back for the next big screen Bat adventure? We'll have to wait and see if this rumor pans out, but until then, which other Suicide Squad members would you like to see appear in the solo Batman movie?

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will hit theaters on March 25, 2016, followed by SUICIDE SQUAD on August 5, 2016.

Eh. Idk about this. On the one hand, I like the idea of deadshot being reused, as I just wrote a long rant about villains in these films on the article for the X-men poster. Buuuut, the death and return of Jason Todd is one of the biggest, and best, stories in the Bat universe - especially not considering one offs. This will be the first solo bat flick since the insanely successful Bale films, and it now seems like it'll have to do a lot of damage control from bat V supes, in the same way

This will be the first solo bat flick since the insanely successful Bale films, and it now seems like it'll have to do a lot of damage control from bat V supes, in the same way Bat V Supes is damage control against MOS. Does this (or any) Batman film really need Will Smith's help in any way, especially this already established story, and ESPECIALLY if Will Smith would literally be helping Batman instead of being the villain of the film? That's scary. I'm afraid DC/WB are shitting themselves from the feedback from the last BVS trailer, and probably the quality of the film. And just like with MOS, where they had to bring in the biggest hero in film, and a bunch more, to assist supes in his sequel, it sounds like they are thinking they will need will smith to do the same thing for this batman movie. And even if BVS is as bad as it looks, I think I'll still be able to buy where Batman is as this point and watch his films. This is a crazy change in marketing where DC/WB seems to know they lost the fans, or just don't care, and are just trying to get the most general audience whatsoever. It's Batman AND Will Smith!

And the unjustified hate for Will Smith continues. It really is strange how film fans have turned on him, for no reason at all. It can't be because of bad films, other actors have way more. EX: Nic Cage. Is it because he helped his son get in a 3 or 4 films? Maybe, but then that means he's hated for being a good dad. Which is weird.

I don't think it's hate. He's just not as engaging on screen. I'm not sure why, it seemed like he was at one time.

I wouldn't call it hate. I would call it an ongoing annoyance of wanting an actor to, you know, act in accordance with the role they're given. Instead of demanding rewrites to scripts for you to have a more family-friendly role, act as actors do, become a new character. It's one of the main reasons I'm so happy he wasn't in Django Unchained after reading he wanted Tarantino to change the story to make it a love story instead of a story of revenge and have Django kill Candy instead of Dr. King.

@Roy Batty I'd respect that answer if you could name another film other than Django where Smith has asked the role/story to be changed. I don't think you can. He was offered a job, turned it down because he didn't like it. What's the big deal?

I kind of agree, and it's now the bandwagon thing to do to hate on Smith (like the soloist - but I bet you he and those people went crazy over ID4, MIB, wanted bad boys 3, and thought he was robbed of an Oscar for I Am Legend). But he has changed his answer on Django - and turned down the Matrix as well. And I think it's obvious he didn't take that role because of the controversy he might catch saying "nigger" in a QT slavery movie. Had he accepted, and committed, I think he would have been

I think people's problem with him is that he doesn't seem to care about making good stuff anymore, just kinda Adam Sandlering it. He just makes safe choices for his brand, and is only concerned about his brand, not the quality of the overall film he is contributing too. He seems to only care about his image and agenda, which didn't always seem to always be the case. That said, i think he's aware of this now and trying to change it but he still isn't really going about it in a creative way. And when does giving your son a role in movies make you a good parent? I would say the overwhelming examples of children like that have ended up having really difficult times. Also, Jaden says some insane shit that makes him unlikeable, and then there's the Scientology aspect.

I just don't like Will Smith's huge ego. Same reason why I can't stand Lebron James when I watch sports. And I also find Smith to be boring to watch as well.

This is one time when...

Idris Elba should have been cast. Much more believable and a much better actor.

Why?

Will Smith, outside of dramatic roles, is a hack. His annoying desire to play the same hero hellbent on saving the world is so tiring I'm amazed the guy still gets work on big blockbusters. There are plenty other talented black actors they could have gotten to play Deadshot. I hope this rumor doesn't turn out to be true.

If he is, I bet he'll tell Batman at some point that they need to save the world.

Less Will Smith appearances in other DCU films, the better.

I'm certain various Suicide Squad characters will be in future Batman movie. It's DC properties after all. They can do whatever they want with those characters.

That could be kind of cool. But based on the rumors for the plot of the first solo Batman film, they're going to adapt the Under the Red Hood storyline. I just don't see how Deadshot could figure into the story in any powerful/meaningful way. Realistically, Batman would most likely team up with Nightwing in the film before Deadshot.

If they do the Under the Red Hood story elements then they should definitely cast Jensen Ackles for Red Hood. He was perfect for voice acting the role. Don't see why they can't use him for live action version.
