Russell goes mental

David O. Russell Notoriously prickly auteur David O. Russell has been tasked by the brothers Weinstein to write and direct an adaptation of Matthew Quick's novel "The Silver Linings Playbook". In it, a high school teacher recently released from a mental institution moves back in with his mother and attempts to reconcile with his ex-wife. No word on when it'll get started but likely sooner rather than later, unless things go like Russell's last film. He was most recently working on the Jessica Biel starring romantic comedy NAILED but the funding's been cut and restored so many times on that flick, who knows if it ever actually finished. Seriously, if anyone knows about that, please strike back a little something below. And if you're itching to see Biel actually get nailed, check the drama POWDER BLUE.

Extra Tidbit: The "O" in Russell's name stands for Owen.

Nailed filmed in my hometown of Columbia, SC. I dealt with the production office and the last I heard when they were packing up shop was that they had not finished the film yet and were going to try and finish up on a soundstage in CA. I know that the budget problems shut the shooting down 3 different times. Doubtful that we'll see the finished product, could be wrong though.

This guy is a damn good director.

I don't care if he's been labeled a prick.

He's prob no more, or less a prick than any other director. His pick-ed-ness was just over publicized.

Maybe not, but it doesn't mean he makes bad movies. I liked everything I've seen of his, and that was before the video hit the net (though I had known about the falling out with Clooney prior to that - but then a lot of directors clash with their talent at some point).

David Russell does not have the talent to even remotely justify turning a blind eye to his shocking stupidity on set and off.
