Ryan Coogler looks to offer up some ’90s flashbacks in Black Panther

Chadwick Boseman made a decent enough entrance in Marvel's CIVIL WAR, but we'll finally get to see what T'Challa is all about in 13 months' time. Director Ryan Coogler delivered a hell of a boxing installment with CREED, and looks to be the perfect director in bringing Black Panther's solo story to the big screen. While it seems natural that his story would follow the events of CIVIL WAR, it looks like we may get some flashback goodies as well.

The East Bay Times reports that the transit agency’s governing board approved the use of the logo of 1990s-era AC Transit bus for filming on Black Panther. Coogler’s an Oakland native, so it makes sense that he would want to give the Bay area some love in a flashback scene. It's said that T'Challa will have been a student at Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkeley, which makes sense given that the character visited some of the finest schools in the US and the UK in the comic book lore. So what does this mean? Flashbacks to help the audience see how Black Panther came to be who he is . . . and hopefully a hip '90s tune as well.

BLACK PANTHER will open in theaters on February 16, 2018.
