Ryan Reynolds alone in the dark in this new teaser for Buried

04.30.2010

After a good run at Sundance, BURIED was acquired by Lionsgate for $4 million. Our own Chris Bumbray reviewed the film giving it a 7/10.

The new teaser is out today. Verdict? He's still buried.

I wonder if he'll manage to wiggle his shirt off in that box. Here's the synopsis:

"Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) is a U.S. citizen working as a contract driver in Iraq. After a swift and sudden attack on his convoy, he awakens to find himself buried alive inside a coffin with nothing more than a lighter, a cell phone, and little memory of how he ended up there. Faced with limited oxygen and unlimited panic, Paul finds himself in a tension-filled race against time to escape this claustrophobic deathtrap before it's too late."

Extra Tidbit: Will he punch his way out of the coffin? Will he then use the Five Point Palm Heart Exploding technique on his enemies? Inquiring minds want to know.

EXCELLENT teaser. I can't wait to see it in a dark theater. Can't wait for the film.

You don't "get it"

There are no flashbacks. The whole film takes place in the buried coffin. The script is pretty tense...if Reynolds pulls it off (which I think he will), it should be pretty good.

I already "get it"

It'll start with him in the coffin, where he's most panicked to grab the viewer. Then it will have several flashbacks until the end when he finally solves how to get out... or dies. Either way, probably less screen time in the coffin and more time out of it.

Exactly. It would be retarded to have the whole film in the coffin because seriously what is he going to do? If he keeps the lighter going hes burning oxygen thus killing his time left so it would just be dark and him going crazy with sounds?

This might be an interesting movie to listen to, because apparently the screen's going to be pitch black the entire time.

kill bill part 2

if he had extensive martial arts training, he could just punch his way out like what's-her-face did.

I just saw this trailer in front of Nightmare on Elm Street, it really creeped me out. I never feel claustrophic, but I definitely did in the theater.

Extra Tidbit:
No. Because the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart technique isn't also the Bloodied Knuckles Punch Your Way Out Of A Coffin technique.

As for Buried, I'll probably rent it.

I love how Lionsgate is marketing this film. The teaser is simple yet effective, like the poster.
