Ryan Reynolds' body is stolen in Tarsem Singh's Selfless trailer

It's been a few years since we've seen anything from visionary director Tarsem Singh (MIRROR MIRROR, IMMORTALS) but the trailer for his latest, SELFLESS, is finally here. Right off the bat, you may notice that the visual aesthetic of this film feels quite restrained compaired to his earlier works, but that's where the story takes over. The film follows an extremely wealthy man (Ben Kingsley), dying from cancer, who undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man (Ryan Reynolds). All is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body's origin and the organization that will kill to protect its cause.

The premise is pretty solid although admittedly the entire story seems to be told in the trailer. I'm hoping that we get some good character moments once the main character comes in contact with the people involved in Ryan Reynolds' past. I'm always up for a good sci-fi yarn, so here's hoping that Singh and Co. have more to this movie than meets the eye. Like a cinematic transformer. A cine-former! I'm done.

SELFLESS will be released on July 21, 2015.

The premise sounds familiar, but that trailer had me hooked all the way. When Matthew Goode plays creepy he hits a nerve with me every time.

Ooo, so they're doing the old mind-swap trick eh? Mad scientists always make the same mistake with these experiments - they fail to fully wipe clean the hard drive before copying over the new code :P

The Fall was one of the most visually arresting films I've ever seen. Hope he doesn't have to dial back the aesthetic too far.

The Cell was one of the most insanely awesome, visually stunning movies i have ever seen (and one could claim a precursor to Inception)... so i look forward to Tarsem Singh flicks... plus Reynolds smaller movies are usually amazing (Buried, The Voices)

I agree, Reynolds seems to do pretty well with smaller projects like this (or Buried, Voices, etc). It seems the higher the budget, the worse his movies are.

Looks pretty cool and refreshing which is something the Sci-Fi genre needs more of.
