Ryan Reynolds gets animated for the DreamWorks toon Turbo

04.01.2011

Ryan Reynolds has signed on to voice his second DreamWorks Animation movie, this time playing a snail in the upcoming TURBO.

TURBO follows the very formulaic DreamWorks-style plot of a down-and-out character who suddenly finds himself with abilities unusual to its kind. In this case, it's a snail who dreams of becoming the fastest snail in the world. Strange dream but OK. A freak accident grants him that very ability and he sets out to make his dream come true (all the while making the DreamWorks face).

DreamWorks had a void in the release schedule after they realized their upcoming Seth Rogen-voiced film, BOO U., was pulled from the slate once the studio realized Pixar's MONSTERS INC. 2 would be titled MONSTER UNIVERSITY and follow a very similar plot (monsters and ghouls go to college to learn how to scare).

David Soren, who directed the "Merry Madagascar" TV special, is directing from a script he wrote with Darren Lemke (SHREK FOREVER AFTER). DreamWorks has scheduled TURBO for June 7, 2013 release, just three months after Reynolds' other DWA film, the caveman comedy THE CROODS.

Remember

Disney advertises on this site. Every article about Dreamworks is biased. Not once do they put a cool picture to accompany one of these lame stories. There's like 8 movies coming out from Dreamworks and all we hear is about the stupid Pixar sequels and DVD spinoffs.

Will you shut up about this biased bull shit?
Seriously, you have every right to like whatever films over another, but just because a websites news stories happen to have a different opinion than yours DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE BIASED.
So go find a different movie website that shares your thoughts and opinions, or get the fuck off the internets.

Cool News but

why so mean-spirited? The fact that Dreamworks has discontinued the Shrek series indefinitely even though the last one made $800 million worldwide to me is a positive sign. With the obviously biased tone of the article, I don't even know if I should take Mike Sampson at his word that Boo U. has been shelved. If anything, Pixar copied the university idea and/or title.
