Ryan Reynolds to police the undead in R.I.P.D.

Well the man knows what he likes, and he’s sticking to it. After a stretch of tolerable rom-coms, Ryan Reynolds is trying to be our next big action star with BLADE TRINITY, WOLVERINE, DEADPOOL and GREEN LANTERN among his most recent projects. Now he’s gotten involved with a new comic property, one that has a pretty interesting concept.

Reynolds with star in R.I.P.D. a graphic novel that I’m almost positive had its title inspire the actual book. He’ll play a dead cop paired up with a centuries old gunslinger who team up to police the undead and report back to the devil.

No word on who will play opposite Reynolds yet, though I’m guessing it’ll be someone on the older side. I’d say Clint Eastwood, but I’m not convinced the man has a sense of humor. Besides, he should be busy cloning himself so we can have a young version of him play Roland in The Dark Tower film adaptation.

More on the project as it develops, but I have to say my interest is piqued. Filming starts in January, and the whole thing is aiming to be PG-13.
