Ryan Reynolds will have to pick between RIPD and Deadpool

09.21.2010

It's no secret that Ryan Reynolds might be the busiest actor in Hollywood today (though James Franco might give him a run for his money), and he has a massive slate of projects coming up he's attached to. But it appears to have reached a tipping point, and now he's going to have to make some hard decisions.

Talking to io9 to promot BURIED, Reynolds acknowledges he's probably going to have to pick between RIPD and DEADPOOL, as he won't have time for both.

People sort of ask this question [which one will you make?], like I have any say in the matter. They’re both movies I’m interested in, they’re both movies that are in fast-track development. But I never say I’m doing a movie until I break for lunch the first day. Because it’s such a crapshoot, this industry. Everything’s so fickle and so contingent on so many factors, aside from just an actor. And because it has an actor, and because these films have interested directors, it’s obviously likely that they’ll both get made. But I think it would be more likely that only one of them gets made with me.

Alright, what's your vote? I have a hunch the majority of you are going to side with me on this. Deadpool. F*cking Deadpool. This is a role that is such a perfect fit, it would be a crime for this movie not to happen. I'm sure RIPD has cool source material, but if it's one or the other, I think that that movie is out of luck.

Reynolds himself has excitedly talked about DEADPOOL in the past, and with rumors that Robert Rodriguez is being pursued to direct, I just think there's too much potential in the project for it to collapse. I don't think it should even happen without Reynolds, though RIPD could probably soldier on. What do you think?

Extra Tidbit: And he should have been The Flash, not Green Lantern, but whatever.
