Power Rangers

As the Power Rangers franchise has been a continuous presence on television for over twenty years, it's no surprise that series creator Haim Saban has big plans for the new POWER RANGERS movie franchise as well. The upcoming Dean Israelite film will reintroduce the classic characters for audiences, and although the reviews have been somewhat mixed so far, most admit that there's still fun to be had. We'll have to wait and see whether that translates into big box-office bucks, but Saban told Variety that he's got the future mapped out.

We already have a six-movie story arc.

As for what type of story this potential six-film arc will tell, we're not sure, but if POWER RANGERS takes off in the way Saban hopes it will, he says that they'll have their "first story meeting for Movie No. 2" on Saturday. Although POWER RANGERS seems to be targeted at a younger audience, screenwriter John Gatins isn't about to underestimate the power of nostalgia. "There’s been a lot of response on social media from people in their late 20s, since we announced the film," said Gatins. "This is a part of their nostalgia. And, hopefully, today’s kids, who haven’t seen the Power Rangers before, will look at the ads and go, 'Wow, that looks really cool.'"

The official synopsis for POWER RANGERS:

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

POWER RANGERS will hit theaters on March 24th, so make sure to check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray!
