Sam Worthington might chuck himself off a building for a heist in the trailer for Man on a Ledge

Sep. 22, 2011by: Dave Davis

For a while it seemed like Aussie actor Sam Worthington was unavoidable, but his smaller movies (THE DEBT, LAST NIGHT, TEXAS KILLING FIELDS) have been quietly sliding around the schedule.

The thriller MAN ON A LEDGE will hit the pavement next January, a month traditionally considered a dumping ground but in recent years has kicked out box office successes like CLOVERFIELD, TAKEN and PAUL BLART. It's got an impressive supporting cast, although apparently Anthony Mackie's role is too secret to include in the trailer. Plenty of room for Genesis Rodriguez's rack, though!

Synopsis: An ex-cop and now wanted fugitive stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while a hard-living New York Police Department negotiator tries to talk him down. The longer they are on the ledge, the more she realizes that he might have an ulterior objective.

Check out the trailer below or in HD at Yahoo.

Looks good...

I'll watch it, not in the theater but I'll rent it most likely.

Looks like a decent thriller with a nice cast. I always enjoy films that take place in a single location, like Phone Booth, as I find what can be pulled out of these locations interesting. I must agree though, when I first saw this article, I was reminded of The Ledge.

Hold on a second...

He's trying to defeat Ed Harris? Umm...that's a futile effort. It can't be done.

Looks pretty cool actually. Once again though, revealed too much.

This is not a remake, or reboot, or anything like that is it. Hell I'm down. Best part, I think it will be a good film and that it wont be stretched into two more films two years later to make a buck.

I think this looks amazing. As you stated, January is usually the dumping period for bad movies, but the trailers for this, The Grey, and Premium Rush all look fantastic.

I'm not so sure about Elizabeth Banks as the negotiator. Not a bad cast at all though so besides that, could be pretty cool.

Sam Worthington's is amazing at not slipping in his native Australian accent. Also Elizabeth banks looks believable as a hostage negotiator
