Sam Worthington says that Wrath of the Titans will be a better film than its predecessor

Dec. 20, 2010by: George Merchan

During a recent press event for his film MAN ON A LEDGE, Sam Worthington spoke to Moviefone and basically admitted that this year's CLASH OF THE TITANS fell short of a lot of people's expectations. Thank you very much, Internet.

Here's what he had to say regarding WRATH OF THE TITANS:

"I just think we can improve on it. I think the first one, we kind of let down some people. And yeah, I totally agree. The only point of doing a sequel is either the audience demands it or you believe you can better the first one. What we're setting out to do with this one -- the writers and the director and myself -- is improve. I think I can act f***ing better, to be honest... Just take all the notes from people that I have been reading about on the 'net and give them a movie they f***ing want. This one I want to kind of try to satisfy a lot more people."

Though he's not nearly as candid as Mark Wahlberg was when talking about THE HAPPENING, it's good to see Worthington at least put it out there that CLASH OF THE TITANS blew. Because, seriously, it totally did.

WRATH OF THE TITANS is set for release March 30, 2012.
Extra Tidbit: Is anyone seriously clamoring for this sequel?

The first one wasn't bad

It was entertaining and provided a fun ride for two hours. Bring on another one!

I liked the original for what it was and I welcome a sequel. Especially with the original cast reprising their roles.

I saw the movie, and thought it was an entertaining way to kill a couple of hours. My girlfriend is huge into Greek mythology so she got a kick out of it, and from a movie standpoint it succeeded in some ways and failed miserably in others. I think he's absoluteley right that the potential for a fantastic action/adventure movie is there.. and if they stay true to their word (who really does in Hollywood?) then they can nail it.

I worry a little bit if suddenly because of Internet backlash, all sorts of tentpole movies that were critical duds get sequelized. I'm more concerned that there isn't any basis for a sequel here. I didn't actually watch the movie (or the original), but I'm pretty certain there aren't many further adventures of Perseus, certainly none bigger than what was chronicled there.

Props to Worthington for actually giving a shit about what us losers have to say. I enjoyed COTT and welcome a sequel, especially if it's a badass, studio-free director's cut.

Worthington has about as much acting talent as a turd I flushed last night. Seriously, the only way to improve on the last movie is by give the movie an enema and seriously CGI some personality for ol' dead eyes himself, Worthington.

Big thumbs down.

i like...

sam and the cast was an awesome ensemble, yes the remake was complete balls, but with talent like that something golden could have been created, yes i'll give the sequel a chance, as long as the corporate assholes keep their hands out of the creative process. And another thing, you cant shoot gold in a few months. let every one work for their money please. And dont tear sam a new one, the dude has what it takes, terminator would have bee awesome if not for bale. the previous story arc was

Bring on the hate but I actually enjoyed the remake. I mean, the original wasn't so respected (ie - The Thing, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc) that it broke some hearts. I thought it was a fun, wild movie that was a fun escape for 2 hours. The fact that Sam is reading up and is trying to better himself should be respected. Most actors out there don't give a shit about anything but their paycheck so I say best of luck to all involved and I'm there. Okay - thumbs down the shit out of me. I can take

"Let down some people"?

The movie blew Zeus' balls. It was horrible, and Sam Worthington is a horrible actress. Not looking forward to a sequel.

Agree, it wasn't good, although somewhat entertaining imo.

But I think you mean "actor", not "actress" ? Or do you? ;)

Sam Worington was one of the worst parts of the original

I thought it would be better to get a different main character, but if everyone is positive it'll work then I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

deja vu

In the history of films has anyone ever said, " don't bother watching the upcoming sequel, it's gonna suck"?
