Sandler's Bedtime Stories

08.08.2008

Although Adam Sandler is one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, the guy really has only made four classic films (I'lll let you folks guess what they are). Many moons have passed since I've been excited for a Sandler film and it looks as though many more shall pass indeed.

The first photo from his latest film entitled BEDTIME STORIES has been released online and it's literally the dude standing with an umbrella being drenched by....candy? In the film, which is directed by Adam Shankman (HAIRSPRAY) Sandler plays a hotel handyman whose life is changed forever when the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to mysteriously come true. Although the premise doesn't sound all that bad, I still long for Sandler to return to that primal, amoral, vulgar S.O.B we all know he's capable of playing. The guy can do drama don't get me wrong, but does anything beat watching him riff on sex drugs and rock n' roll? Unfortunately we'll have to wait a few more flicks before that hopefully happens again. Judging by the pic BELOW, this shyte is a family fair. Better luck next time, eh boys?

unfunny

I loved Punch Drunk Love and I thought The Wedding Singer was cute. But Happy, Billy and hs other "classic" sandler is utterly stupid and unfunny.

Billy & Happy were alright in their day, but wasn't that stuff getting old by the time Waterboy came around? I'd rather see more dramatic Sandler, not Happy Gilmore 2. Either would be better than this raining candy nonsense. I just remembered when Tarantino wanted to cast him in Bastards way back before he was cast in Punch Drunk Love? Hmmm...

Classics

Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Waterboy, Big Daddy. this seems like another Click type movie for the Sandman. but i cant wait for Funny People with him and Seth Rogen.

I'll see this film just for Teresa Palmer looking INSANELY hot. I think it's going to be a huge hit, it just sounds too siminlar to Night at the Museum not to be. Not to mention that director has a great track record.

Honestly, I've seen ENOUGH of the Sandler you seem to want more of to last me a life time. I want more "Reign over Me" and "Punch Drunk Love" sandler. I know he's capable of it. This seems to be on the right track for that. I think Sandler in a family film is a great idea. He needs more roles like this so people can finally understand that he truly is a great actor.
P.S. If he DOES want to return to classic Sandler, I say Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison, but that's IT.
