In between bending air, M. Night Shyamalan was spending time in the past couple years putting together a new series of flicks based on his own concepts (and twist endings, probably) but made by other filmmakers.

First up is DEVIL (originally going under THE NIGHT CHRONICLES: DEVIL), a supernatural thriller directed by John Dowdle (QUARANTINE) from a script by Brian Nelson (30 DAYS OF NIGHT), based on Shyamalan's original concept of, apparently, evil in an elevator. It does feel a bit like a "Twilight Zone" episode (especially since Bokeem Woodbine seems to be the most recognizable actor), but maybe there are plenty of chills to be found between floors.

What a smart way to make a comeback
Let other people write and direct a movie and say it's from your "Mind". That should throw audiences off the trail for a few years. The trailer does look very cool though.

I'd love to see "The Night Chronicles" be a powerhouse production company. He can produce with the best and just how many people will see anything branded "Tarantino presents..." I will see anything Shyamalan thinks his worth putting his name on.

Looks like it could be alright. I'd be initially concerned with how they fill a runtime with people trapped in an elevator, but it does looks like there's plenty of other stuff happening outside the elevator though. That figure looked pretty spooky.

I like that Shyamalan didn't write or direct this thing. Just because he came up with the "idea" means literally nothing. Even I'VE had this idea a few times. It's the execution that matters, and the fact that it's not Shyamalan's execution is great news.

This actually looks quite good. I'm a huge fan of claustrophobic movies like this, and I saw enough good looking stuff in this trailer that appeals to me. Best of all, it's something that Shyamalan is producing and not directing or writing, so hopefully it will be really good.

I have an aversion to elevators and M.Night but this looks promising so far. It will be something I wait for reviews on before shelling out money to see, I made that mistake with The Happening!

I'm not looking for attention. I'm trying to figure out why everyone is running with that non-sense. This movie didn't have the prefix. The production photos from this movie are from the shoot, which started last year, and cleary show the title was /just/ DEVIL.

But we must ignore this, and claim the imdb as the pure truth because it fits with the anti-shyamalan slant. Nevermind...

You could also check his IMDB page, and see there is another movie titled "The Night Chronicles: Twelve Strangers" in development. Which gives very good reason for me to believe this movie used to have the same prefix. I just never checked out the movie beforehand to know. Like Vanity said, no need to be a bitch about this just to get attention.

Plus MRC has had media materials for this movie that are months old that also reveal that title as simply Devil.
