Saturn award winners

06.25.2009

The same day the Academy Awards announced they were expanding they were expanding the Best Picture category to 10 nominees, the Saturn Awards, honoring the best in sci-fi, fantasy and horror, put on an award show that had just as much excess. I love a show that honors sci-fi and can give awards to WALL-E, "Lost" and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN but do we really need a Lifetime Achievement Award, a Life Career Award and a Visionary Award? All in the same night?? And does there have to be a distinction between Best TV Show and Best Syndicated TV Show?

OK I'm just ranting. As expected, THE DARK KNIGHT took home a shitload of trophies including Best Action/Adventure/Thriller Film while IRON MAN took home Best Sci-Fi Film. @deja vu

A lot of awards committees and critics label stuff like Hellboy "horror" because they have horror movie elements--in this case, a big red demon. It is lame, but there it is.
