Scarlett Johansson to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity?

Oh, rumors. There's nothing quite like hearing somebody say something about someone "verbally agreeing" to do something. But hey, it's Comic Con, so news outside of the great geek fest is few and far between. We'll just have to make due.

Ny Daily News apparently has a source that's saying hottie Scarlett Johansson (IRON MAN 2, HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU) has "verbally agreed" to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in Alfonso Cuaron's upcoming sci-fi film GRAVITY.

BS or not, it's good to hear any sort of news on the man's project, one that sounds extremely interesting judging from recent reports.

The film, according to that previous bit of news, follows "a woman as she attempts to make her way back to earth after a satellite crash sets off a chain reaction of further crashes."

GRAVITY is set to begin production later this summer and looking at a 2012 release.
Extra Tidbit: Johansson may star in THE AVENGERS. If so, considering she was one of the surprisingly better parts of IRON MAN 2, I wonder if she'll have a somewhat more prominent role in the upcoming superhero mash-up.

Yeah, Scarlett was suprisingly good...

... in Iron Man 2. In fact, she should have gotten every bit of screen time that Favreau took for himself. The idea of her being in Gravity doesn't thrill me at all. Same with Angelina. I guess I expect someone different w/ Cuaron being the director.

Unsure

The pairing of Angelina and RDJ had me more interested to be honest, but Scarlett is a great choice too. The opening is supposed to be a single 20 minute take, which if it turns out anything like the shot in Cuaron's Children of Men, will be amazing for sure.

Sounds like Quaron is going to do some amazing things with the lack of gravity in this film. I'm not sure Johansson is strong enough for this, but it wouldn't be unpleasant to see what zero gravity does to her orbs...

We'll have to see....

I really would have preferred Angelina in the role. She would have been so good.
