Scary Movie 5 will be a direct spoof of Black Swan

05.08.2012

According to a casting notice for SCARY MOVIE 5, the spoof will focus mainly on mocking Darren Aronofsky's BLACK SWAN. Along with the confirmation of January 11, 2013 release date for the sequel, the first plot synopsis was also revealed.

The plot for SCARY MOVIE 5 will involve the dance world, with a snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed French director of a dance company named Pierre putting on a huge production. Jody, a Caucasian late-20's mother of two and her late-20's African American friend Kendra are both vying for the lead in the production. Jody's extremely controlling former dancer mother is determined that Jody will have the brilliant career that eluded her. The highly skilled mid-30's Diva veteran dancer with the company, Heather Daltry, gets cut from the production and goes berserk.

The casting notice calls for lead actors requires dance skills as well as the ability to play comedy in a grounded dramatic style. Other roles for non-dancers of various ages are also being cast. Extras will be hired in both Los Angeles and Vancouver, where shooting will take place beginning June 15, 2012.

The fifth SCARY MOVIE will be directed by Malcolm Lee (UNDERCOVER BROTHER, SOUL MEN). No word on whether or not any cast members from the first four films will reprise their roles, although Anna Faris recently confirmed that she will not be back

I am indifferent to the SCARY MOVIE franchise at this point. The last two were beyond dreadful. With a whole new crew working on this one there is hope for a better product, however spoofing a movie that is already out of the zeitgeist is not a good way to start production.

Besides, no one can top Jim Carrey's BLACK SWAN spoof from Saturday Night Live.

Insert heavy dose of apathy...here.

Wow. Another Scary Movie. Great. Can't wait to...shit, I can't even fake indifference. This franchise blows.

To those questioning why they didn't choose the Paranormal Activities to spoof, I propose an answer: A spoof to found footage films is also in the works - [link]

See. I knew Scary Movie could find a new angle for the franchise's next movie. Furthermore, Black Swan appeals to both male and female audience members, and the movie is very well known. Good luck, film-makers. I shall see this shit in January.
BTW, I agree strongly with philalva77. Someone needs to do Not Another Found Footage Film. That project could do to lame found footage flicks what Airplane! did to disaster movies.

WTF why bother calling it Scary movie 5 then if it will spoof Black Swan & didn't that movie come out in 2010? If anything they should spoof those lame ass Paranormal Activity movies or the so-called found footage craze. To me that makes more sense.

The only good news I've seen here is Anna Farris wont be in it.
She did her part to make these movies work and she deserves better.

If you're going to do a spoof, do it properly... e.g. Galaxy Quest, Austin Powers, Robin Hood: Men in Tights etc.

Can't believe people actually waste their money on crap like Epic Movie, Date Movie, Superhero Movie, Scary Movie... you get the idea.

This wouldve worked....

Back when Black Swan was relevant...hell even if it did come out last month like originally planned...it couldve work ( if it spoofed scream 4 at the same time) But by January? I see why it has a January release date now..

Without Anna Faris, it'd be like those direct-to-dvd American Pie sequels.

That came to mind for me too. This just sounds more tired than what the usual spoof movies try.

This was actually one of two films I wanted to be spoof, the other one being an obvious choice, the Paranormal Activity films. If you think about it, Black Swan is one of the very few horror-like films that are memorable in the past few years, so it's good for them to spoof this. I personally liked all the Scary Movie films myself, and I keep cracking up during the 3rd and 4th. Also, "Undercover Brother" was a genuinely good spoof on spy films, so I think this has potential at being funny. The

She is the symbol of Scary Movie, along with Regina Hall.

Not at all the direction I thought they might go with this. I'm not sure their target audience was waiting on a black swan spoof. Just seems like a horrible choice.

This idea works based off the assumption that the Scary Movie audience is also the type to watch Aronofsky's Black Swan...which I doubt. Not being pretentious, just realistic.
