This September 18th, the complete adventures of Indiana Jones come to Blu-Ray in one glorious package.

The collection is set to feature "seven hours of bonus features, including nearly an hour of previously unreleased behind-the-scenes footage," with RAIDERS having received a full restoration under the supervision of Spielberg and his sound designer Ben Burtt and TEMPLE OF DOOM/LAST CRUSADE each receiving their own remaster.

The crown jewel, so to speak, of this collection looks to be a "two-part documentary entitled 'On Set with Raiders of the Lost Ark – From Jungle to Desert and From Adventure to Legend.' Featuring nearly an hour of rarely seen footage from the set of the film and archival interviews with Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford, these captivating pieces transports fans back to where the legend began."

Before we get to the list of special features you'll be find on each disc, here's a more detailed explanation of what that previously mentioned "full restoration" entails exactly: "RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK has been painstakingly restored with careful attention to preserving the original look, sound and feel of the iconic film. The original negative was scanned at 4K and then examined frame-by-frame so that any damage could be repaired. The sound design was similarly preserved using Burtt's original master mix, which had been archived and unused since 1981. New stereo surrounds were created using the original music tracks and original effects recorded in stereo but used previously only in mono. In addition, the sub bass was redone entirely up to modern specifications and care was taken to improve dialogue and correct small technical flaws to create the most complete and highest quality version of the sound possible while retaining the director's vision."

Just click right here to do so, and as an added bonus a small portion of what you pay will go towards supporting this site.  Which, as you can imagine, is very much appreciated.

IJTCA on Blu Ray box art

Extra Tidbit: I almost thought the box art didn't have anything from CRYSTAL SKULL until I noticed Cate Blanchett. And I thought "okay, that's fine, I can under - is that Mutt?!" And then I got a bit sad. I just can't help hating on Crystal Skull... it's almost compulsion...

No deleted scenes?

No deleted scenes? When George Lucas first announced the Blu Ray release, he said they were going to add them. Maybe the next "Complete" boxset in 5 years will have it. Disappointing. Also looks like I will be using Crystal skull has a beer coaster

Guys! I know Indy 4 isn't near as great as the first three but it's still an entertaining film (to me)! Sure, seeing an old Indy, aliens, Shia & the monkies, and the easiest plot twist ever, are bad enough, But it still has some charm that is missing from the adventure films of the last two decades. (Except Pirates 1 and Mummy 1).

Ugh

You can buy a box set of The Karate Kid Trilogy that leaves out that awful 4th movie, so why can't it be the same for this set?

Mehhh

I'll wait till they break up the set. I already have the box set on DVD. I just want Raiders on Blu Ray as it's my all time favorite movie. I don't enjoy special features at all. I know people will scream "Blasphemy!" but it just takes away the magic of the film for me if I know how it was made. I don't like looking behind the curtain.

Bah so you have to buy crystal skull too grumble grumble grumble.

I remember when I put the Matrix bluray on my wish list and a well-intentioned relative went ahead and bought me the whole trilogy instead for a birthday. I nodded and smiled enthusiastically, then immediately put the second two on ebay.

It is good that the films are finally being released as a set on Blu-ray - however, a lot of the special features are recycled from the earlier releases. If you have the DVD box set that came out in 2003 or thereabouts, quite a bit of the stuff (notably the feature-length making-ofs for the original trilogy) will be repeats. And a number of the others are culled from the Crystal Skull blu-ray too. I just wish we had something a little more special - I'd love to have seen a documentary about

I just wish we had something a little more special - I'd love to have seen a documentary about Indy's effect on pop culture, with interviews with filmmakers and other fans who were inspired and impacted by watching the Indy movies, maybe a look at the Indiana Jones theme park attractions - Star Wars has had several such documentaries made for it. Or a documentary where real-life archaeologists are interviewed, and they can point out all the inaccuracies in the films but then admit they really enjoyed them and they've had one or two run ins with local thugs anyway.
