Scorsese joins Shark

04.04.2002

Martin Scorsese will take a rare step in front of the camera (sort of...) as he's signed on to lend his voice to the upcoming Dreamworks CGI-animated film SHARKSLAYER.   Scorsese will play a puffer fish named Sykes who, I'm guessing, is an underling of James Gandolfini's shark mob boss.  This wouldn't be the first time Scorsese has acted in a film, most notably starring as a passenger of Travis Bickle's in TAXI DRIVER, and has even lent his voice to film before doing uncredited narration for THE COLOR OF MONEY and THE GRIFTERS.  The director is currently working on getting his film GANGS OF NEW YORK together for its eventual release (although we're never quite sure when that will be).  In addition to Scorsese and Gandolfini, SHARKSLAYER also stars the voice talent of Will Smith, Angelina Jolie and Renee Zellweger.
