Scott Buck tapped as showrunner for Marvel’s Iron Fist series on Netflix

Once upon a time, Marvel announced that they’d be doing an IRON FIST series for Netflix… and that’s basically the last we heard about that. There’s been very little movement on the property. There hasn’t been much talk about it publicly. Outside of some rumblings that the creative minds at Marvel were still figuring out exactly what the show was going to be, IRON FIST has been operating as a ghost in the shared universe.

But that’s not the case any longer, with Marvel announcing today that Scott Buck will serve as showrunner and executive producer of the Netflix Original Series. Buck had served in the same position for the final four seasons of DEXTER – for better and worse – and also worked as a writer for series like SIX FEET UNDER and ROME.

Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television, must have been really taken by Buck’s approach to IRON FIST given how everything appeared to have stalled in order to kickstart it into full gear again.

Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet. We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.

Even better, Marvel went ahead and dropped an official synopsis on us to give us a better indication of what we can expect out of the show.

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
