Scott Pilgrim's cast! | Movie News

As I'm sure you've heard, casting has heated up on SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, the upcoming Edgar Wright adaptation of the popular comic. For the uninitiated, PILGRIM follows a 23-year-old guy trying to win the heart of a girl named Ramona. But before he does that he must do battle with her evil exes.
Casting news has been coming in fast and furious though so I thought I'd combine it all into one big post, complete with some handy-dandy graphics to help you piece together who's playing who. This is almost the entire cast so far with the exception of Mae Whitman as Roxanne Richter and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau (can't find any pics of Roxy or Ellen Wong anywhere online...if you feel like helping, e-mail me). So far I have to say Edgar and his crew have done a pretty fantastic job...

Scott Pilgrim / Michael Cera

Ramona Flowers / Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Wallace Wells / Kieran Culkin

Stephen Stills / Mark Webber

Kim Pine / Alison Pill

Envy Adams / Brie Larson

Young Neil / Johnny Simmons

Julie Powers / Aubrey Plaza

Stacey Pilgrim / Anna Kendrick
RAMONA'S EVIL EXES

Todd Ingram / Brandon Routh

Matthew Patel / Satya Bhabha

Lucas Lee / Chris Evans

The screenplay seemed ok up to a point. That point being where it deviates from the novels.I'd say the draft I read was from somewhere around when Book 4 was released as it has a similar situation but changes a lot around while leaving a lot of stuff out completely. The best thing to do would have been to wait til O'Malley finished the series, then do a film based on it....oh, and of course, replace Michael Cera with someone who would be suited to Pilgrim's personality. I am liking how the rest of the cast looks though. It'll be interesting to see if any of it translates well to the big screen. The graphic novels had a lot of great humor that I'm not sure would work outside of the books.

All Cera has been able to do so far is play George-Michael Bluth. Although that is a great character and he is really great at it, Scott Pilgrim is really not George-Michael Bluth.

I guess if nothing else this will show me whether or not Cera can act with a different personality than what he's shown in Arrested Development, Superbad, Juno, Nick and Norah, and the TV cameos I have seen him do.
If he plays it exactly the same as he's played everything else then this will be a pretty big disservice to Brian Lee O'Malley and the totally awesome character he created.

But with that said, Edgar Wright hasn't done me wrong so I'll trust him with the casting choice...
