Screen legend Tony Curtis dies at 85

He’s starred in over 150 film in his long career, which has finally drawn to a close. Actor Tony Curtis has died at 85. He was the father of Jamie Lee Curtis, who had

this to say about his passing:

“My father leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings and assemblages,” actress Jamie Lee Curtis said in a statement Thursday. “He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world. He will be greatly missed.”

Curtis’s most memorable roles are from decades ago, with appearances in SPARTACUS (1960) with Kurt Douglas, SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959) with Marilyn Monroe and was nominated for an Oscar in 1958 for THE DEFIANT ONES with Sidney Poitier.

His personal life was a bit rockier, he divorced five times and battled drug and alcohol addiction for many years, but ultimately it’s his massive and diverse catalog of films that he’ll be remembered for. RIP Tony.
