Brad Pitt sees green in the first poster for Moneyball

A very simple but beautifully striking poster has been released for Brad Pitt's upcoming sports drama BRAD PITT.

Okay, no, it's MONEYBALL. But it's still a really nice poster. Marketing departments for movies, pay attention to stuff like this. Simplicity is elegance. And if it can somehow make you think on the content of the film in a thematic way? That's just win win in my book.

MONEYBALL - starring Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, and Chris Pratt - opens September 23rd.

Synopsis: Based on a true story, Moneyball is a movie for anybody who has ever dreamed of taking on the system. Brad Pitt stars as Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A’s and the guy who assembles the team, who has an epiphany: all of baseball’s conventional wisdom is wrong. Forced to reinvent his team on a tight budget, Beane will have to outsmart the richer clubs. The onetime jock teams with Ivy League grad Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) in an unlikely partnership, recruiting bargain players that the scouts call flawed, but all of whom have an ability to get on base, score runs, and win games. It's more than baseball, it’s a revolution – one that challenges old school traditions and puts Beane in the crosshairs of those who say he’s tearing out the heart and soul of the game.

Splendid poster but did they miss out on something that could have made it even more terrific?
And let me stress the usage of "could have" in the prior sentence before saying:
The grass in the field being replaced by an immense patchwork of dollar bills.

Beautiful Poster!

Too bad Beane isn't putting it together for us this year...or the last few years for that matter. Oh well, at least we still have The Giants.

That poster is just so aesthetically pleasing!
Even more proof (as if we even needed it) that films can be marketed without having a dozen floating heads or extreme closeups of the cast.

Beautiful poster.

The world needs more baseball movies. I really hope Major League 4 comes together. I also really hope that after the Twins take the AL Central again this year, they make a movie about their amazing comeback :P

Great poster. Simple, effective design, and, like you said, develops the theme of the film.
Plus, no floating, photoshopped heads.
