See Sylvester Stallone and Jason Momoa throw down in this clip from Walter Hill's Bullet To The Head

Jan. 24, 2013by: Paul Shirey

Walter Hill's return to action films will be marked next week with the Sylvester Stallone-led BULLET TO THE HEAD, co-starring Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo!), Sung Kang, Sarah Shahi, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Ecko), and Christian Slater (Clarence Worley!).  Last week's "return" of Arnold Schwarzenegger with THE LAST STAND wasn't met enthusiastically, which kind of put a damper on this whole '80's action revival party, but i still have faith in my favorite action star geezers.  Stallone has done great with THE EXPENDABLES films thus far and although I'm not floored by the look of BULLET TO THE HEAD (or the excision of Thomas Jane from the cast), I'm at least enthralled to have veteran director Hill at the helm.

This new clip from the film features a brief showdown between Stallone and Mamoa...in the bathroom.  It's a short tease, but a good indicator that Hill is still bringing the hard-hitting impacts as demonstrated in his previous films.  If anything, this clip gets my hopes up for a solid action romp, as I've been dying to see Hill deliver for years now.  I'm not looking for a genre-defining actioner, just a fun-filled throwback.

Throw down!:

BULLET TO THE HEAD begins axe fighting on February 1, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Do you plan on catching this in theaters or are you waiting on reviews?

I saw the film and it was...okay. Some parts of it seemed dangerously close to direct-to-DVD territory (Christian Slater pops up as a supporting villain!), but the role was perfect for Stallone and while I would have much rather seen Thomas Jane as his partner, Sung Kang was passable. Momoa is physically imposing enough, it's a believable match-up between him and Stallone, and their final fight is pretty cool. On the whole though, it is kinda meh.

not trolling. this is just going to bomb like its cousin the Last Stand. i love Sly and Ahnuld but neither of these vehicles are worthy of their appeal. we all want R rated actioners to steal the show but these are throw away scripts that would normally go to Rutger Hauer or Treat Williams but have somehow gotten to the desks of these legends. i dont hate the players, just the scripts.

Mamoa getting taken down by a mop bucket made me laugh out loud.
This movie looks awesome to me. Glad to see Stallone is still fucking shit up hard, and not playing off his old age too much. I mean, why would he? Dude's yoked.

Yeah, I think that was a big error Arnold made with his comeback - he drew too much attention to his age with all the "old" jokes.

Not bad. Looks well shot and edited. I think Stallone took on board the criticism from the first Expendables film (yeah I know he's not the director... officially).

Can't wait!

Although I sure as hell wished that they had gone ahead and done it with Thomas Jane. That would have been one of my dream team-ups. Shame...
