Sexy, racy, and compelling new international trailer for Lovelace starring Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard

07.09.2013

Directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's LOVELACE, starring Amanda Seyfried as the titular character debuted its first trailer last week and today we have a much racier and compelling international one to sell the sex(ier) side of the film. It still dives into the turbulent relationship between Linda Lovelace and her boyfriend/manager Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard), but it's a more upbeat affair than the previous one. The film made it's debut at Sundance earlier this year (our review here) and has garnered a lot of attention for Seyfried's performance and an all-star cast that includes James Franco, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Robert Patrick, Chris Noth, Adam Brody, Chloe Sevigny, Hank Azaria, Wes Bentley, Eric Roberts, and Bobby Cannavale.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

Story of Linda Lovelace, who is used and abused by the porn industry at the behest of her coercive husband, before taking control of her life.

In many ways this looks like BOOGIE NIGHTS with a female perspective. Swap out Dirk Diggler for Linda Lovelace and this looks to hit on a lot of familiar beats, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Seyfried has proven herself to be reputable actress and this looks like it could be another solid gig on her resume.

LOVELACE is set for release on August 9, 2013.

"...She had the looks..."

Although, to be fair, a hell of a lot of people were taking a hell of a lot of drugs at the time.

The pretty authentic 70s look and feel this seems to be having does seem pretty good.

Oscar bait written all over it!

This has got a Boogie Nights meets Blow feel to it. It's got a very solid cast, with a lot of underrated actors, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple Best Acting nominations come out of this. Sarsgaard is always great, but doesn't always pick the best projects, so this may be his chance to make some headway. Franco is sure to get a nomination for something, between this and his incredible performance in Spring Breakers (Even if the movie itself was just "meh"), and Seyfried is

She may not be Meryl Streep, but she can give a better performance with her eyes than some actresses can period. All that said, I doubt I'll catch it in the theater... It looks like it may be good, it might even be great, but like "The Bling Ring" and "Spring Breakers," I feel like I'll just have a lukewarm reaction to it.
