Sheri Moon Zombie is experiencing something strange in the new trailer for Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem

Feb. 4, 2013by:

Here's another piece from the horror genre, except this time it's a tale for the big screen.

A new trailer for Rob Zombie's THE LORDS OF SALEM has hit and it offers much more plot. For those that were unconvinced from the teaser, this full-length look might give you some better insight. I've been a follower of Zombie's for awhile, including his music career. I would not qualify as a massive fan in any sense, but I do have respect for the guy when it comes to his projects. A debate about the musician/director actually came about this weekend as we were discussing the quality of his films thus far. What's hard to deny is Zombie's passion for horror, whether you like the guy or not, he's done his homework.

Do his study skills shine through in this trailer? I think so while I won't know the final result until after seeing the film it does carry that B horror movie vibe. Reminds me of something that might have been successful in the late 70s and 80s. Take another peek at what the film has to offer and let us know what you think of it.

Synopsis: From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. The Lords of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a gift from the Lords. Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the towns violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the Lords of Salem returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?

THE LORDS OF SALEM starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Judy Geerson, Bruce Davison, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, and Dee Wallace will creep you out on April 19, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Chris Bumbray called this, "Zombie's most ambitious film to date."

The Devil's Rejects is his best work so far. It's a pretty badass movie.
I really don't know what to make of this trailer, though... seems a little lacking.
Still better to see him trying his own stuff than doing remakes though.

Not Impressed

I'm not a fan of Zombie's work. Halloween was watchable at best. As for people saying he has an unique style, all I saw from this trailer was Zombie emulating shots from Kubrick.

Salem is scary....

I spent 4 days in Salem over Halloween (and the hurricane) last year. Place still gives me the creeps. Nice to see real locations from the town in the trailer. I'm really looking forward to this for sure!

Rob Zombie has a style all of his own and its original and it works as a new breed of horror films. I'm a fan of all his work especially House and Devils Rejects. That "white trash" horror approach is damn entertaining.

Saw it.

I saw this at TIFF in September and thought it was terrible. I really liked The Devil's Rejects and originally liked his Halloween reboot, but this was more of the weird stuff he started with Halloween II. Very much like a really long music video.
I'd recommend you all steer clear, but you'll do what you want whether I say anything or not. Still, can't say you weren't warned!

Glad Zombie is doing more original work. The Devil's Rejects is one of my favorite horror films of the last decade. However, I am getting a little annoyed at seeing a good amount of horror trailers have to boost "From the producers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious."

Not a fan of Zombie's work

And I think the praise for him, especially his earliest efforts, is laughable. That said, I give the man credit for becoming something he clearly is passionate about pursuing. I also think he sjouldn't be judged by only his past work and should be given a chance to evolve as a writer/director. I even think I'm seeing some of that evolution myself in his latest work. He seems to be getting less derivative and more original in his vision. And I applaud him for that at least. I'm going to check

a.kavanaugh,
Not neccesarily disagreeing with you here. I just hold out some hope that with repetition comes learning and, later, excellence and craftsmanship. The Beatles went from "Love me Do" to Sgt. Pepper in the span of about 6 years. Probably becuase they were recording constantly that whole time and HAd to do something different because they're great artists. Not saying Zombie's gonna have that kind of career trajectory but I'll give this one a chance. I get all the hate though. Far too

He's passionate about it though. I'll give him that.
