Sheridan’s Black Mass

Jim Sheridan, the no-nonsense director of IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER and THE BOXER is developing a movie about notorious Boston mobster and FBI informant Whitey Bulger. Sheridan will direct a script he and partner (not that kind of partner, duh!) Nye Heron are writing based on “Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob,” written by Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill.

Bulger rose to prominence in Boston as a feared enforcer and built the Winter Hill Gang into an enterprise that sold drugs and obtained weapons for the Irish Republican Army. His rise was aided by John Connolly, a childhood friend who became an FBI agent. Bulger disappeared 14 years ago, creating a major law enforcement scandal.

Sheridan has produced some of the most uncompromising films of the last couple decades and even tackled the mafia with his film EMERALD CITY, which I haven’t seen but I’ll bet you my first born that it’s badass. To claim my first born just mail me at PO box I’m in love with myself.com
