Shia LaBeouf does action romance in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman

Shia LaBeouf has been doing the big blockbuster films for a bit, now he’s ready to go back to the world of indie films.

Commercial director Dante Ariola will helm Shia’s next film, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman for Mandate Pictures. The Black List script comes from Matt Drake, and is being produced by Bona Fide Productions’ Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger (LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, LITTLE CHILDREN) and Wonderful Films’ William Horberg (THE KITE RUNNER). Drake is also working on writing Todd Philips’ PROJECT X.

LaBeouf plays Charlie Countryman, who falls for a girl who is a gangster’s prostitute. Charlie tries to win her heart all while trying to protect the both of them from getting killed. I wonder if Megan Fox will play the role of the loose lady friend?

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d like to see LaBeouf go off the beaten path again. He was really great back in 2003 as Kelly in THE BATTLE OF SHAKER HEIGHTS. All I know is I don’t need to see him in every other action movie. He’s still got that baby face. Maybe it’s just because I still think of him as the lovable Louis Stevens.
