Shia LaBeouf does action romance in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman

Apr. 29, 2010by: Niki Stephens

Shia LaBeouf has been doing the big blockbuster films for a bit, now he's ready to go back to the world of indie films.

Commercial director Dante Ariola will helm Shia's next film, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman for Mandate Pictures. The Black List script comes from Matt Drake, and is being produced by Bona Fide Productions Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger (LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, LITTLE CHILDREN) and Wonderful Films William Horberg (THE KITE RUNNER). Drake is also working on writing Todd Philips' PROJECT X.

LaBeouf plays Charlie Countryman, who falls for a girl who is a gangsters prostitute. Charlie tries to win her heart all while trying to protect the both of them from getting killed. I wonder if Megan Fox will play the role of the loose lady friend?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd like to see LaBeouf go off the beaten path again. He was really great back in 2003 as Kelly in THE BATTLE OF SHAKER HEIGHTS. All I know is I don't need to see him in every other action movie. He's still got that baby face. Maybe it's just because I still think of him as the lovable Louis Stevens.

Guide to Saints

Need to see Shia get down and dirty again and I don't mean by bangin' Fox, I mean with his acting.

I'm In

Shia definitely has the chops to pull this off. Let's pray to the heavens he'll pick enough of these kinds of projects over the next few years to make -up for the sure-to-be-shitty Transformers 3.

Yea

Even Stevens was the shit. And Shia is a great actor, and a great comedic actor at that. I'm suprised he hasnt done straight up comedy films with Adam Sandler or something, cuz he definately has the chops, despite what many of you think of him based off the Transformer films.

Oh and can we assume that the title to this film is a spoiler? He dies for this hooker??

Tarantino rip-off

Isn't there a movie called True Romance? Sounds semi-similar

Honestly, that's almost funny. One thing I think even Tarantino doesn't imagine is him being seen as an originator of ideas. And that was just part of "True Romance".

He was great in A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, which was a great indie flick, so I'm willing to give this a chance.
