Show us your Shit #6

This latest column on our digital confrere site DVD CLINIC asks YOU to be participate and yes, ladies and germs....SHOW US YOUR SHIT!! If you've got a cool collection of DVDs, movie posters, toys, comic books, figurines, an awesome home theater set-up that you just have to share with the rest of the world of movie nerds who reside on this very site, this column is for you! Just read the requirements below and drop us a line at [email protected] with pics, videos and commentary about your nifty stuff and your collection might be the next one up here.

1) Please include any basic personal info on yourself, so others could know who the f*ck you are. Age, sex, geographical location, what you do in life, etc....

2) Take some pictures or videos of any cool shit you have in your pad, and send it along with your message to us. Make sure that every picture/video is explained and you don't just send us a bunch of pics and say "Here's my shit!", cause that's not what we're looking for. We need some words attached to the pics, what they are, where you might've got it, shit like that.

3) Try and zone in on a couple of your FAVORITE AND UNIQUE ITEMS and point those out as well. If possible, let our readers know WHERE you might've bought them, etc...

Hey Schmoes, this is Sturdy (my DVD reviews HERE). I'm 29, live in Florida, and I'm a male. Guys, if you haven’t gotten married yet, but you’re planning on it, then keep in mind that there are certain concessions you’ll have to make once you find the love of your life. The first is usually to get rid of all of your cool shit, or at the very least put it in boxes in the garage (like I did). However, if you’re lucky enough to find a woman that loves movies as much as you, she might indulge your fascination with home theater equipment and allow you to spend your hard earned money on making your home theater experience the best possible. So it pretty much evens out.

The Movie Room

First up is a view of the movie room, that we like to call the “Sturdyplex”. The screen is 133” diagonally, 121” long and 71” tall. It’s a Da-Lite straight from www.bigscreencenter.com. The colors are a little off, but it’s the best I can show with my camera.

This is the view from the other end of the movie room. The projector is a Sony VPL-VW50 and it gives an amazing 1080p picture that fills up the screen perfectly with images from the Sony BD-SP300 Blu-ray player. The 7 speakers are all Klipsch and the receiver is an Onkyo TX-SR804. The receiver is from the fine folks over at www.crutchfield.com. The movie furniture is part of the La-z-boy movie collection.

The DVD Collection

These are the movies. Just over 1500 total. On the bottom is the beginnings of my Blu-Ray collection and yes, that’s Wilson from CASTAWAY.

PS: The movies laying horizontally on the upper right side are the movies from JoBlo I haven’t reviewed yet. I’m working on it boss…honestly!

The Posters

This is a small sample from my poster collection which is just shy of 500. I’m actually a professional movie poster collector and all the posters hanging up are authentic, original posters from movie theaters. These four are some of my favorites.

The TV Room

This room is our TV room that we use to watch sports and most of our TV shows. The TV is a 60” LCD Panasonic. The DVD’s on the left are all TV sets and the posters are our “coming soon” posters. We try to keep these up to date with movies that haven’t come out yet. As you can see, we need to change out the CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR poster.

The posters on the opposite wall have no theme, but we change them out every few months to keep things fresh. I think this time we were going for “original films from summer sequels”. I don’t know, just go with it.

The Toy Collection

Finally, this is what’s left from my college apartment days. The top shelf is filled with random movie toys and the bottom is all that’s left of my childhood. It ranges all the way from my Dukes of Hazard phase to my GI Joe phase. Something went wrong here because my toy collection shrunk and my waistline grew.
