Six awesome character shots from The Wolverine show style and badassery

Jul. 1, 2013by: Paul Shirey

Now, that's more like it (insert Thor voice)!

That's the first thought that popped into my head when I saw these images from THE WOLVERINE, which are the best-looking print/web marketing pieces they've put out thus far. The posters have been a little lackluster, but these are definitely a step in the right direction. Featuring some cool, stylistic shots of the various characters from the film including Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Silver Samurai/Kenuichio Harada (Will Hun Lee), Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova), Mariko (Tao Okamoto), and Yukio (Rila Fukushima), the images evoke more of a comic book vibe than we've seen so far for the pic.

SNIKT!:

With the movie coming in just a few weeks it's seemed to kind of stall on the buzz, but is finally picking up some steam and getting back on the radar. I think a lot of folks have been put off by the overly large Silver Samurai that we've seen in trailers (and ninjas on motorcycles), but I'm still holding out hope for a good show. If nothing else we have Jackman back in the claws, which makes X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE as tolerable as it is. I think director James Mangold will be able to deliver something strong regardless, so my expectations are for something enjoyable at the very least.

THE WOLVERINE slices its way into theaters on July 26, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: I can remember thinking how impossible it would be to ever see a Wolverine movie when I was a kid, so regardless of how the movie shakes out I feel a little bit lucky just to have another one coming.

I hear you man! This is really an awesome era for comic fans, I remember sitting around with my friends talking about how awesome it would be if they made an "x-men" or a "spider-man" movie, who they would cast, how they could look, etc... And now we get 3 or 4 of these movies a year.

I'm really psyched for this wolverine movie because this is one of the first "graphic novel" adaptations of a major marvel/DC character. Now that we've got the team-ups & trilogies out of the way, we can

Now that we've got the team-ups & trilogies out of the way, we can finally see some of the deconstructed stories, character explorations, etc... I stopped reading monthlies back in the mid 90s, but I still love picking up a good limited series or graphic novel. Now if we could just get a movie with a badass middle aged Batman, I'd really be happy!

Are they going for the R rating for this thing or what? Jackman said theyd thought about it, but didnt want to isolate audiences, though there have already been 4 PG13 Wolverine movies that those audiences can go enjoy

I personally can't wait. The movie looks great and Jackman always bring his best. Especially when he is portraying Wolverine.

I just can't wait to see how they tie this storyline into Days of Future Past.

It seems like..

Jackman specifically went all out to finally make a great Wolverine movie, here's to hoping that's true.

And I heard talks of an uncut version Blu-Ray, that would be amazing.

As much as I want this to be good, I just can't get the bad taste of origins out of my mouth.

Be open-minded and never close your mind to anything you encounter. Bad movies happen and a bad taste can easily be taken care of by a little suga.;-)
