Six-second tweazer for The Wolverine drops; more teases before the full teaser on Wednesday

Mar. 25, 2013by:

We've all been starved for some THE WOLVERINE in action ever since, well, the project was announced.  After the relatively disappointing X-MEN ORIGINS: THE WOLVERINE, expectations virtually sank for every seeing Logan (Hugh Jackman) in a worthy solo adventure.  Then, director Darren Aronofsky signed on and hope sprang eternal.  And of course, that hope was quashed when he abruptly left the film, shoehorning in James Mangold.  Mangold has taken on the project with a lot of passion and shared as much via Twitter throughout the production, restoring faith in the adaptation of Wolverine's original mini-series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller

Today, Mangold has once again taken to Twitter, this time giving us a six-second "tweazer" of the upcoming full teaser to be released on Wednesday.

"Today 6 sec tweazer. Tomorrow a 20sec tease of the teaser. Then the "complete" teaser drops Wednesday. Teased enough?"

Check out some screenshot glimpses, featuring a look at Silver Samurai's helmet, Viper, Jean Grey (in flashback?), and of course, lots of berserker rage.

Take a look:

Coupled with the new images and posters we've already gotten today, it seems that this week is all about ol' Wolvie. I'm pretty stoked to see the full teaser and judging by this little "tweaze" it's going to be worth the wait.

THE WOLVERINE will start slicing up theaters on July 26, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: As annoying as teasers for teasers can be, what do you think so far?

fucking tweazer of teaser for a teaser now?! Lets cut to the chase hollywood, start making 1 frame teasers and work your way up from there. I bet you could drag out that marketing method for a year or two

One frame teasers? Aren't those called "production stills" and doesn't Hollywood already do that? Websites like this one show the first official image of a new movie, as do magazines, and fans get excited about glimpses of an anticipated movie. I don't see what the big deal about this is. It's just marketing. If you don't want to watch the tweazer or the teaser for the teaser, wait until the full teaser is released. It seems to me that the release of a trailer for a big movie has become

It seems to me that the release of a trailer for a big movie has become an event, so I have no problem with them hyping it up. What's wrong with getting some snacks to tide us over before the meal in a couple days?

(Note: first people complain about not enough advertising for Wolverine and now it's too much. Can't make fans happy.)

Well, JJ Abrams did showcase his "three frame teaser" clip of Star Trek Into Darkness on Conan that one time.

I know there's more coming, but it would have been hilarious if that's all we got before the movie came out.

Hopefully it's not a flashback. Would like for her character to actually physically return.

Fucking DO IT JACKMAN!

Hugh deserves for this to be good. That man is just so utterly dedicated to this role, and so open and damn appreciative of it (plus he seems to have spent the past twelve years taking some secret anti-aging potion especially for the role) that he deserves this to be better than X3/Origins and finally give him and the character the stand alone movie they deserve.

Mangold can be a hell of a solid (although unspectacular) filmmaker, I'm a fan of most of his stuff, but hopefully we get Mangold

Mangold can be a hell of a solid (although unspectacular) filmmaker, I'm a fan of most of his stuff, but hopefully we get Mangold on Cop Land/Walk the Line/3:10 to Yuma form, and not on Knight and Day form. I'm a bit worried with the amount of CGI and crazy action these movies tend to gravitate towards (as I say, especially after Knight and Day), hopefully he can ground it well though.

Here's hoping.

(PS. Oh also seeing Famke here gives me hope that she's willing to return to the role in the X-Men: Days of Future Past movie)

Tidbit

Um...not that I don't have any interest in this project, but judging by those six seconds, I was trying to think if they showed a damn thing that didn't look like something I've seen Wolverine do already. It would be nice if they gave room for maybe a single one-liner or something. That's all.

That was the dumbest thing ever. Before seeing that I was excited about Wolverine, now I'm just mildly annoyed. People shouldn't copy JJ Abrams build ups unless they can do it properly..
