Skyfall director and screenwriter to team up for a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen-style vampire hunter TV series?
Things seem to have worked out rather well indeed for SKYFALL scribe John Logan (CORIOLANUS, HUGO, GLADIATOR) - besides being drafted to write the next two Bond films, word now comes that he and director Sam Mendes may have found a way to work together again beyond Bond.
The concept/script, which are already being shopped around to "premium cable networks," is described by sources "as an origin story set in the 1800s London in the vein of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which also was set in 19th century Europe, including London, and featured an assortment of fictional literary characters. The Logan/Mendes project features such characters as Van Helsing and Doctor Frankenstein as they hunt for vampires." Mendes will produce the project through his company Neal Street Productions and possibly direct as well. Insofar as vampire hunting goes, this project joins the recently-commissioned Guillermo del Toro adaptation of THE STRAIN over at FX.
There's no word on a timeline for the project, or even a title really, but considering the cloud behind this whole thing (and a script already having been written) I can't imagine it will take all that long for us to hear some more news at least regarding a sale. Perhaps even a commitment, if the right network gets a hold of this thing. Once upon a time I would have said that HBO was the only place worth taking this sort of project so that it could explore its full scope, but times have changed. Where do you think this untitled Logan-Mendes collaboration would find the best home these days?
In the meantime, SKYFALL hits on November 8th in IMAX and November 9th on traditional screens.
Bérénice Marlohe is already dangerously close to becoming my favorite Bond girl.

|Extra Tidbit:||One unanswered question is whether John Logan will only co-write the next two Bond films (as he did with SKYFALL), or if he'll be going solo.|
