Slasher season 3 in production and “cutting” soon

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Oh, good. It looks like the at one point Chiller TV original who-dun-it slasher series, fittingly called SLASHER, has just been renewed for a third season. I don't know if I should be excited about this news or not. After all, personally I didn't care one bit for the first season of the series (which was called SLASHER: THE EXECUTIONER), and I never watched past the first episode of the second (which was officially labeled as SLASHER: GUILTY PARTY).

All the same, I guess I'm still looking forward to this upcoming third season. I think the general premise the show boasts is a solid one (a slasher movie spread out over eight hours) but I have yet to see this series make that premise sing. Fingers crossed and then chopped off SLASHER 3 gets it right.

The announcement of the third season comes our way via the show's official Twitter account and you can check out that tweet below. The first season followed Katie McGrath (JURASSIC WORLD) who played

Sarah Bennett whose parents were murdered by a killer known as "The Executioner" 30 years ago. Now, she returns to the quiet community of Waterbury, where the killings occurred, to start over with her husband Dylan, but upon arriving they discover that things haven't changed much. Sarah quickly finds herself at the center of a series of murders that revolve around the seven deadly sins, which appear to be the work of "The Executioner." But the original killer who went by that name, Tom Winston, is in prison so it can't be him. That means somebody else is behind the mask this time around, and the perp's true identity must be discovered to stop this latest string of murders. As long-buried secrets begin to surface, everybody around Sarah is a suspect — or a victim.

The second season was called SLASHER: GUILTY PARTY and it centered around

a horrific secret that a group of former summer camp counselors buried long ago. Due to a changing circumstance, they must return to their resort in the dead of winter to retrieve the body of Talvinder, whom they murdered while they were camp counselors, five years earlier. They get surprised when they can't find the body at the campsite. Later, the group starts dying one by one at the hands of a mysterious person wearing a parka, which also alerts the second group of counselors at the resort.

There isn't currently word on just what this upcoming season will involve, but I think it's safe to say the new season will center around a group of people who are systematically killed off by a masked and/or unseen assailant. Again, SLASHER is a fitting title for this series.

We'll let you know when we hear more! Stay tuned.
