Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders may direct Tom Cruise in Van Helsing

SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN helmer Rupert Sanders got more than he bargained for directing Kristen Stewart. Regardless, it doesn’t seem to be affecting his career.

Sanders is currently circling the VAN HELSING pic with Tom Cruise attached for Universal. Now, these are very early talks. The studio already has a working relationship with Sanders, and he did have a decent start with SNOW WHITE. As I said before, it doesn’t seem to be affecting his career, but this is only with Universal. If he doesn’t take this, where will he go from here? Other directors have been involved in scandal, but does the mainstream public care enough to do their homework? Cruise and Sanders are an interesting pair to say the least.

Is Sanders good for Van Helsing, though? Visually, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN was quite nice. There’s no reason he can’t make VAN HELSING just as appealing. However, will you go and see something that pairs both Cruise and Sanders despite your own opinions? Is it just about the movies? Or do their own lives have an influence on whether you see their work or not?

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (STAR TREK, COWBOYS & ALIENS) serve as the scribes on this vampire hunting tale. We’ll see if Sanders signs on soon enough.
