Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders may direct Tom Cruise in Van Helsing

SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN helmer Rupert Sanders got more than he bargained for directing Kristen Stewart. Regardless, it doesn't seem to be affecting his career.

Sanders is currently circling the VAN HELSING pic with Tom Cruise attached for Universal. Now, these are very early talks. The studio already has a working relationship with Sanders, and he did have a decent start with SNOW WHITE. As I said before, it doesn't seem to be affecting his career, but this is only with Universal. If he doesn't take this, where will he go from here? Other directors have been involved in scandal, but does the mainstream public care enough to do their homework? Cruise and Sanders are an interesting pair to say the least.

Is Sanders good for Van Helsing, though? Visually, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN was quite nice. There's no reason he can't make VAN HELSING just as appealing. However, will you go and see something that pairs both Cruise and Sanders despite your own opinions? Is it just about the movies? Or do their own lives have an influence on whether you see their work or not?

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (STAR TREK, COWBOYS & ALIENS) serve as the scribes on this vampire hunting tale. We'll see if Sanders signs on soon enough.

As long as it is NOTHING like hugh Jackman's turd of a movie. Make it more like Interview or Bram Stoker's Dracula and I'm all there.

Much can be said about Cruise, but he always brings his all to films. You might even think that he thinks what he portraits in sci-fi, as real. And he probably does. :)

He will bring his best to this as always, am sure it will be better than the awful Jackman version.

I can't immediately imagine Tom Cruise in the role, but I guess until we see some footage and find out what sort of tone they're going for we wont know. Jackman's version was pretty lighthearted in many ways, so wasn't really satisfying as a monster movie. With luck this new version will be pretty different.

I'm curious to see what Sanders does next, his Snow White looked great, the story just wasn't very good.

I would much prefer they go the "Abraham Van Helsing" route, with the character being a little older (not as old as Peter Cushing or Christopher Plummer were but, well, not young) and a Dutch doctor, as much a scientist and researcher as a hunter. They shouldn't put the focus overtly on the action and creature aspect and perhaps return the character to the essence of how Stoker originally envisioned him. The Hugh Jackman version sexed him up a little too much, what with renaming him "Gabriel"

Hugh Jackman's Van Helsing was alright but it relied too much on special effects. That's its down point. Hopefully the new Van Helsing will be better.

Personal activities should have no bearing on a job well done. Snow White wasn't my thing, but if the studios were happy with it, then there's no reason not to give him other work. I couldn't care less where his penis has been.

Maybe Tom Cruise will sleep with him and the internet will blow up. I don't think Cruise is the right choice for the character but what do I know? I won't judge this until I see a trailer anyhow.
