So much for a lady director, Patty Jenkins exits Thor 2

Dec. 6, 2011by:

So much for getting a chick director on a superhero movie.

It seems that Patty Jenkins (MONSTER) has dropped out of directing THOR 2. But why? Another case of creative differences. Marvel Studios is already out looking for a replacement helmer.

Who will it be? They gotta choose fast if they want to get someone by their starting date of September.

It's being said that Jenkins will at some point get to direct a superhero film but it probably won't be a sequel. I'm not really bummed out that Jenkins is out. The only thing that sucks is that it would have been nice to see the lady at the helm. Maybe Jenkins just wasn't the right fit for the project.

THOR 2 is set to release November 15, 2013.

I think the only thing that is more entertaining than the Marvel movies... is watching the behind the scenes drama of making them.

Thank God i always thought this was a questionable move & no it has nothing to do with gender.

Drew Goddard ("The Cabin In The Woods") was considered for "Thor 2" before Marvel settled on Patty Jenkins. Perhaps they'll reconsider him. He's already worked with Chris Hemsworth and he'd be able to write or at least rewrite the script.

Marvel is way too controlling. I can almost guarantee you that it wasn't Braugnah and Favreu that wanted the huge (and pointless) SHIELD presence in Thor and Iron Man 2.

I wonder what they want to shove in Thor 2.

I don't really care if she was directing. Neither excited or upset me that she was at the helm.

For her replacement, how about bringing back Kenneth? AND if not him then how about one of the directors from Game of Thrones.

She wouldn't have been the first

Lexi Alexander did Punisher: War Zone and it's awesome.

As much as I like what Marvel is doing, they've had a quite a few issues behind the scenes. Howard, Norton, Faverau, Braugnah, and now this lady. For the directors I can understand the creative differences with the studios. You would need to stay in the universe Marvel created for possible sequels/cross-overs, etc. It seems like you would have little control over any aspect of the movie, so I can imagine how the situation would be difficult for directors. Hopefully we get a good replacement,
