Soloist first look

It’s a strange thing, seeing Robert Downey Jr. as this sudden megastar, since us, the real film fans (represent!) knew and loved him long ago as a challenging actor. In fact, he’s always been a huge star in my eyes, but now he’s like, well, mega. He’ll follow up his career-changing roles in IRON MAN and TROPIC THUNDER with a role in the drama THE SOLOIST, opposite Jamie Foxx. USA Today has your first look at the film, which is based on an LA Times article about a journalist who forms a bond with a schizophrenic, homeless, violin prodigy (Foxx). The film was directed by Joe Wright (ATONEMENT).

Extra Tidbit: This film was budgeted at $60 million, twice the budget of ATONEMENT.

Always been a fan of Downey Jr ever since Less Than Zero, great to see him hit the big time like he deserves. Thought it all started with Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang in my opinion. People noticed him again, welcome back Bobby, enjoy it!! : )

Can't wait for this

I have a very strong hunch that this will get Robert Downey Jr a long-awaited Oscar. Pairing him with Joe Wright, one of the most talented directors to have emerged from Britain in the last 10 years--along with Greengrass and Nolan, is a stroke of genius. This, along with House of Lies (formerly Body of Lies), Milk, The Road, and Benjamin Button, ranks as one of my most anticipated fall films.

Violin prodigy? That looks like a cello to me.
