Solomon Kane director Michael J. Bassett to write and helm Silent Hill 2

It had been said that Lionsgate was going to be shopping around the sequel to 2006’s adaptation of the survival horror video game SILENT HILL this week at the American Film Market in Los Angeles. Now, we’re hearing that the flick has finally secured itself a writer-director as well as a title.

The sequel, to be called SILENT HILL: REVELATIONS, will be written and directed by Michael J. Bassett (SOLOMON KANE) and will reportedly be shot in 3D. Here’s Bloody Disgusting with a breakdown of the film’s plot:

The sequel follows heather Mason, along with her father, who have been on the run – always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t full understand, Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.

The first film was brought to us by writer Roger Avary (BEOWULF) and director Christopher Gans (BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF), and starred Radha Mitchell and Sean Bean. Avary, who was to originally write the sequel, appears to no longer be involved. No word on what cast members, if any, will be returning.
