Son of Santa gets animated in the teaser for Arthur Christmas

12.06.2010

"Oh terrific," you may be derisively thinking. "Another 3D computer-animated movie... that isn't from Pixar."

However, ARTHUR CHRISTMAS is noteworthy in that it comes from Aardman, the people behind the brilliant WALLACE & GROMIT. It's also got a top-notch Brit voice cast that includes James McAvoy, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Hugh Laurie and Imelda Staunton. Alas, they won't be delivering your holiday cheer until next Christmas.

The premise: So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night? The answer: Santa's exhilarating, ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole. But this year, Santa's son Arthur has an urgent mission that must be completed before Christmas morning dawns.

I always thought Imelda Stanton was irish...

I think this trailer relied on a pretty generic joke for it's trailer but given it's not out for another year and didn't really show any proper footage, the animation was fantastic (and I'm an animater too, DeadAce), the concept a little done but they look like they have a nice take on it. I'd be interested in seeing more. DEFINITELY looks better than Fred Claus and we need a new decent Christmas movie. We haven't had one in ages, least of all

3D is tacked on to every movie. I just ignore that now and wait for the stupid fad to pass.

I had high hopes for this, when I first heard about it some weeks ago, being Aardman and all! ..but damn this looks bad! The animation i bad (I'm an animator myself), and the jokes are more embarrasing than funny! ..oh and at the end it says in 3D, that explains the stupid setup with everything jumping into the camera!
