We've been hearing about the indie blaxploitation spoof BLACK DYNAMITE for a while, and now thanks to Sony, it's no longer an indie.

Sony grabbed distribution rights to the pistol-packin' parody after catching it at Sundance, and are already planning a summer or fall release with the hopes of a potential AUSTIN POWERS-style franchise (actors are signed for a sequel).

The flick stars Michael Jai White as a kung fu fightin' badass tackling inner-city drug dealers and pleasing no small amount of ladies.

Extra Tidbit: White voiced Green Lantern in a JUSTICE LEAGUE videogame, which also featured Ron Perlman as Batman.

Have you seen it PuffCity? It's hilarious. The audience at Sundance was busting up - and I have no doubt it will do very well. Maybe not on the level of Austin Powers (though it is much funnier) b/c of the R rating, but it will do well.

This looks turrrible. There's no way this is sucessful enough to warrant a franchise.

Hope Sony knows what they got on their hands here; after all, it's "rated ARRR-AHH!"
