Sony will remake Big Man Japan

How in the hell did I miss something like BIG MAN JAPAN? Why did no one tell me about this crazy as shit looking movie?

Does Sony know what they are getting into by remaking a film like this? I guess it really doesn’t matter since they’ve already optioned the remake and sequel rights to BIG MAN JAPAN. It will be produced into a new feature film by Neal H. Moritz through his Original Film banner.

So what is the film about? “Big Man Japan, who runs the Department of Monster Prevention. Using electricity, he can grow to be 10 stories tall and fight off the most menacing of monsters. The problem is that he’s not very good at his job and often causes as much damage as he prevents. The people believe he’s a joke – and not nearly as good at the job as his father and grandfather were before he took over the family business.”

The original film from director Hitoshi Matsumoto was a huge hit in Japan in 2007. It made its way to the States in 2009 and has made it to cult status.

Check out the trailer I found below. Sony will not even come close when they remake it.
