Spider-Man: Far From Home has cast J.B. Smoove in a lead role

Sony Pictures has added Jerry Angelo Brooks aka J.B. Smoove (UNCLE DREW, BLACK DYNAMITE) to the cast of SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME, the sequel to SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. While the studio failed to reveal who Smoove will portray for the superhero follow-up film, sources have told Deadline Hollywood that he will arrive on the scene in a leading capacity. Smoove is the first actor to be named as an official member of the cast after it was revealed that Jake Gyllenhaal has been set to play the villain Mysterio.

When Spidey swings back into action for Far From Home, Jon Watts will once again return to direct the high-flying spectacle of super heroics and special effects. Also expected to reprise their roles from the first film in the series are Michael Keaton, Zendaya and Marisa Tomei. With a scheduled release date of July 5, 2019, the upcoming film is poised to pit the wall-crawler against the greatest of odds as he continues to experience growing pains within the MCU.
