Spielberg & Pirates

Steven The Magnificient

Feels like almost every week we report a Spielberg story that translates into further pushing back that Lincoln bio he's been taunting us for a long time now. At this rate Liam Neeson will have time to do 3 or 4 TAKEN sequels. Although I really dig that film. Hmm...

Spielberg and Dreamworks have acquired the rights to a yet-unpublished novel from the late Michael Crichton called PIRATES LATITUDE, about "a daring plan to infiltrate Port Royal, one of the world's richest and most notorious cities in 1665, and raid a Spanish galleon filled with treasure." Crichton's posthumous book will be on store shelves November 24th.

JURASSIC PARK scribe David Koepp has been tapped to adapt the author once again, with Spielberg producing and apparently interested for more. "Anything that Michael wrote, Steven would be keenly interested to read,", said Dreamworks exec Stacey Snider to USA Today. "It turns out Steven always wanted to direct his own pirate film." Sounds like there's always something more the man "always wanted to direct". Focus, Stevie, focus!
