Spielberg set for Abe

Steven Spielberg confirmed to German magazine FOCUS that he’s returned his attention to his Abraham Lincoln biopic with an early 2009 shoot planned. My German skills leave much to be desired but Google Translation of the article quotes Spielberg as saying, “I want to early 2009 ‘Lincoln’ rotate so that in the same year to start, because as Lincoln’s 200th birthday pending.” I hope Spielberg was a little more eloquent than that but I think you get the gist. Spielberg will first film the first installment in the mo-cap trilogy TINTIN this fall (he and Peter Jackson will split directorial duties on the trilogy). The Honest Abe film could begin shortly after TINTIN wraps (as Spielberg did with JURASSIC PARK and SCHINDLER’S LIST) as the script is ready and Liam Neeson is lying in wait. That news would further delay the TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO SEVEN film that Spielberg had planned with Sacha Baron Cohen. For the near future though, Spielberg will be busy out promoting INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival next week.
