Stan Lee says Marvel is actively developing the Black Panther movie
Stan Lee is an important figure in Marvel comics history. While he is revered by fans and those in the industry, he is more of a figurehead these days. Like Hugh Hefner, I am sure Lee has knowledge of the day to days of his creations, but maybe not all the inside info.
At the Wizard World Comic Con in New York City this past weekend, Lee was the featured special guest and, as expected, he was asked about the state of the ever popular Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lee had this to say:
The people at Marvel are spending hours trying to think whatll we do next. And theres a damn good chance that they will think just what you mentioned because it would be a great idea, and little by little, everything you want to see will come along because theyre just like you. Theyre fans of the stories and are trying to think what will the fans like to see next? What would we like to see next? So theyre working on ANT-MAN, working on DOCTOR STRANGE; theyre working on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY; theyre working on god knows what. Did I say the BLACK PANTHER also? Theyre the ones I know about.
Now, we know those first three films are happening, so Stan Lee uttering BLACK PANTHER in the same group sounds awfully like an unofficial confirmation that it may be one of the Phase Three movies, possibly even the 2016 entry Marvel will likely be announcing at Comic Con.
With Vin Diesel recently saying Marvel was talking to him about some role in their films, could it be too much of a stretch to think he may be Marvel's choice as the Prince of Wakanda?
