Star Trek 2 beams down a 2012 release date

It may be the Mayan apocalypse, but before we all start piling into giant doomsday arks, we’re going to get to see some pretty damn good movies, one of them now being the untitled STAR TREK sequel.

According to ComingSoon, Paramount has announced a June 29th, 2012 release date, which is a prime blockbuster slot as it’s right before the Fourth of July. I’ve heard a few immediate complaints about how far away this is, and damn, is summer 2012 EVER far away (we’ll be having our next presidential primaries!), but I think that’s actually a good thing, as J.J. Abrams isn’t someone who should be rushed. Just ask Lost fans. Alright, well maybe in that case he should have rushed a little more.

There are no plot details as of yet, which is to be expected, and so the internet will continue the endless Khan vs. Klingon vs. Borg debate as to who exactly should villanize the cast, all of whom are expected to return.
