Star Wars: Episode VII's script to be completed by January, budget expected to be $200 million or more

12.13.2013

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is chugging along with J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan scripting the movie after taking over from Michael Arndt. But, despite casting currently underway with both veterans auditioning and open casting calls for new talent, just how far along is STAR WARS: EPISODE VII in development towards filming next year?

$200 million sounds about right if they are building practical sets and harkening back to a more realistic STAR WARS film in regards to visual effects. The script coming in January also makes sense and means that Michael Arndt likely had made a decent dent in writing the bad boy.

The news of the spin-offs coming every other year interspersed with main saga films is now as officially confirmed as possible. Some cry over-saturation but I say we went almost 30 years and only got six movies, I can deal with a sudden rush of new STAR WARS movies. Whatever the case, if the script is done next month, I would expect a hell of a lot more news to begin pouring out in the new year. 2014 is going to be a huge year for STAR WARS news.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII hits screen December 18, 2015.
