Station! Bill & Ted 3 script summons the return of William Sadler’s Death

"You might be a king or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later you dance with the reaper."

– Death

Fourscore and almost 30 years ago, a quirky comedy called BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE entertained moviegoers with the antics of two hapless teens who were destined for greatness. Since that time, the Bill & Ted franchise has gained a cult following, with many fans wondering what they can expect from the forthcoming sequel.

As it happens, Bill & Ted script writer Ed Solomon recently tweeted a few details about the upcoming sequel, which is now said to bring back Death, as played by William Sadler in BILL & TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY. Upon learning that the bald-headed harbinger of the end times is included in the script, Sadler responded to Solomon's post by stating that he's ready and willing to don the black robe, once again, for another time-traveling adventure with two of Hollywood's most boneheaded heroes.

You can see Sadler's clever tweet below:

The exchange began after Solomon had said "The world could totally use some #BillandTed right now. I’m keeping my bony white #fingerscrossed." The Bill & Ted writer then went on to talk up Sadler's performance as Death by saying "Bill CRUSHED it as Death. And we laughed a lot writing him in BT3 – so let’s hope it’s something that happens."

With regard to the plot of the third film, Solomon says the sequel would find Bill and Ted returning to "that scene at the Circle K when Bill and Ted first meet themselves, only now they're watching their younger selves and looking at the exuberance and joy that they had at that time in their lives. And they see Rufus, they see George Carlin."

While the above quote doesn't provide much in the way of plot specifics for the new film, I would imagine the team is simply bursting with ideas, given the franchise's prolonged absence. The question I have now is this: Will Bill and Ted resonate with today's movie-going public? Are the characters simply a product of their time? Does any of this really matter? Personally, I think it's kinda rad that Reeves is even interested in returning to the role. He's certainly got his hands full, these days, though I feel it's a testament to his real-life character that he's not afraid to return to his roots.

Will you be seeing BILL & TED 3 when it eventually hits theaters? Are you prepared to see a CGI reconstruction of George Carlin, should that be the way the filmmakers choose to go? Are there any other characters you'd like to see return for the sequel? The Evil Robot Us'? Station? The Princesses? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
