Stephen Colbert takes his best shot guessing entire The Force Awakens plot

We all think we might have some idea of how STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is going to come together and develop. We have our guesses, our hypothesies, our theories on what direction the saga will take next, who will do what, what it all means, etc. That doesn't mean any of us are right... It's simply helping us pass the time until December gets here already and we can know for sure.

Stephen Colbert is no different than the rest of us. Well, he is in the fact that he has a TV show of his own, but, like so many of us, he's a big time STAR WARS fan, too, and he has a bit of speculating going on in his mind. He decided to air some of it out and take his best shot at guessing the entire plot to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS on last night's episode of THE LATE SHOW.

Is he right? Is he wrong? We won't know for sure for a few more weeks. But, if you want to dip into some more guesswork - that could potentially be SPOILER-filled if Colbert nails it, then this is the footage you're looking for.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS finally gets here on December 18... You should have that memorized by now.

I think despite the cheesy dialogues and the bad political plot of the prequels, one can theorize that what Anakin did against the Jedi and his eventual suicide and murder of Palpatine is actually an elaborate plan to eradicate both Jedi and Sith and bring true balance to The Force. Perhaps the lost teachings of the true ways of The Force is neither dark nor light, but a perfect balance between them. Perhaps Anakin knew this and carefully move the pieces across the board for many decades unseen

Perhaps the lost teachings of the true ways of The Force is neither dark nor light, but a perfect balance between them. Perhaps Anakin knew this and carefully move the pieces across the board for many decades unseen by Palpatine nor Yoda to prepare his offspring to start anew, free from the influence of the Jedi and Sith. It is also possible that what really happened at the second death star in RoTJ was that Luke briefly gave in to the dark side and kills both Vader and Palpatine, but then decided to lie about it to his friends back on Yavin the same way as Anakin concealed his massacre of the sand people. At the end of RoTJ, Luke actually must come to the decision to leave his friends in order to avoid hurting them.

Colbert's prediction is definitely an interesting and practical theory that I could definitely see coming true. Luke going the dark side is one thing I don't believe, but him going into hiding similar to Yoda following the events of Revenge of the Sith is definitely an approach I can see them taking--especially if he feels he brings danger to those around him if Kylo Ren and the other Knights of Ren are so hellbent on destroying any remaining Jedi. I also like the theory that Rey eventually

I also like the theory that Rey eventually joins the dark side because of her possible brother's (Kylo) influence.

Colbert is the man and this just adds to the reason why. Personally, I don't think Luke has drifted to the dark side like so many have suggested, but rather lives in exile for one reason or another. He hasn't started a new order of jedi and there's probably a reason for that as well. Could Kylo Ren be related to Luke in some way, or perhaps he was simply his former apprentice gone bad? That would probably explain why he's in exile. Perhaps he's protecting or guarding something that the dark

Just spitballing here but could imagine. they spend the whole film fighting. The very end of it they discover Luke on some distant planet and he's been training all these Jedi's in secret. The last shot is just a darkly lit image of him unsheathing his lighsaber and you just see about 6 or 7 other people behind him do the same.

Awesome.
